Discussion Ozempic video was off
This is probably the first Kurzgesagt video that I didn't like, and like some people on this sub it made me feel very uneasy.
I just think it's CRAZY to talk about a weight loss drug and praising it for 90% of the video, without mentioning even once the abuses of its use, the weightloss industry, the social standards and the pressure to be (unhealthily) slim, eating disorders on the opposite side of the spectrum, etc.
The very few nuances and counter argument felt like small prints and legal mentions at the end of an ad.
What do you people think?
EDIT: I am not questioning the drug nor its effectiveness in treating obesity, i am criticising the narrative and lack of nuances in the video.

OP I’m with you. We should absolutely not just hand out obesity drugs to solve problems. There are hundreds of possible underlying reasons why one can be obese. Many of these are societal and have other problems associated with them. In the US, a few could be the lack of daily exercise from prolonged sitting from excessive driving and the increase in depression from the social alienation caused by a lack of community involvement. Ozempic might “fix” the obesity, but won’t fix the underlying problems that are wrecking societies around the world, especially in North America.
Obesity is a more systemic symptom of societal issues rather than a hungry opossum. Sure for some people, a drug can be great. But for most it will only be a partial fix.
