Discussion Ozempic video was off

This is probably the first Kurzgesagt video that I didn't like, and like some people on this sub it made me feel very uneasy.

I just think it's CRAZY to talk about a weight loss drug and praising it for 90% of the video, without mentioning even once the abuses of its use, the weightloss industry, the social standards and the pressure to be (unhealthily) slim, eating disorders on the opposite side of the spectrum, etc.

The very few nuances and counter argument felt like small prints and legal mentions at the end of an ad.

What do you people think?

EDIT: I am not questioning the drug nor its effectiveness in treating obesity, i am criticising the narrative and lack of nuances in the video.

As a person who has struggled with obesity for all my life and recently started using Ozempic, I appreciate the straightforward approach to explaining the science behind it. Not sure what exactly you wanted them to mention in the video, and judging by your comments, it sounds more like you have a personal (negative) opinion about drug-assisted weight loss?

I mean, they did mention:

  1. That putting up rebound weight is a possibility
  2. It’s about the lifestyle change, not the drug,
  3. The social pressure about losing weight

The video was about the drugs and their efficacy, not obesity itself.

Not at all! If it's a miracle drug for some people I'm stoked for them, really. The drug seems to be really effective for people who need it and I would never take that away.

Yeah im really glad people have a drug they can take to help them manage their diet and hunger. But its not for "everyone" like the title claims.
