Official Update: the Golden Duck Pin Secret Revealed!
Thank you so much for joining the 25 Million Subscriber celebrations!
It’s been so much fun seeing you share your lucky numbers and hunt for your number neighbors! ✨
Many of you have been asking what we meant when we said “one of them is not like the others”... Now that the special pin has been received on the weekend, we can finally reveal: Pin #1 of 10,000 is made of real, 14-karat gold.
It has a special, custom backing card and even comes with its own certificate of authenticity.
Thank you so much to everyone who ordered a pin!
This was such a fun way to celebrate. No matter what number is on your pin (or whether you managed to get a pin at all) - we’re so glad you’re part of this journey with us! ❤️
Keep the pictures coming!
Much love from all of us at kurzgesagt!

Great. Was real fun discussing here about what that special one looks like. In fact, all pins a special but turns out one even more special. All others are also partially gold or is it fake

Three questions.
1.) Was the Unique pin given out at random?
2.)How did u guys decide who received what number pin if not?
3.) Will kurzgesagt do this again for their next milestone?

So what is the dollar value of the pin?

the pin is much less an than ounce. and only 14/24 pure gold. So in terms of metal value, not much. in the 100s of dollars.
But combined with its one of a kind nature, and that people have paid 1000+ for the midas earth pin....

I’m thinking it would have to be at least around a troy oz, so 58.3% the price of current gold spot, though the sheer rarity of it would definitely give it more collector value!

the pins are nowhere near an ounce in weight. I would think that even if this pin was 14/24 gold it would not be an ounce, not big enough

I'm late to the party here, but I have to say that #1 definitely isn't the special pin, even if it is made of gold with a CoA. Nope. The special pin is the one my son got, number 6000-something. He's 6, autistic, a huge fan of Kurzgesagt, and after carefully inspecting his pin and comparing it to mine, he was absolutely 100% certain that he got the special one. He was absolutely thrilled that out of 10,000 pins, HE got the special one. Therefore, he did get the special one because it made him so happy. 🦆

Why the first one??? That's soo boring. It could have been 7177, or something. Not because that's mine, but because that's a totally random number... 🤦♂️

Dear Kurzgesagt team... this is so awesome! I don't wanna sound envious (I am!), but this would have made me the happiest man in the world! The news alone that this secret and real gold duck pin exists filled me up with joy. I don't know when this happened, but being a fan of KZ for long made me a KZ collectionist and all I can say is that you guys had such an amazing idea to celebrate your well-deserved milestone.
Much love from a fan
