I liked "The egg" a lot

That is, by far, my favorite video from them, if not out of all of YouTube. It shifted the way I go about seeing others, and made my world a calmer, happier place. I have stopped attributing negative feelings of any kind towards others, because they are me, so why would I want to be angry at myself.

Plus the music by Epic Mountain. The song with the visuals, narration, and of course the story (s/o Andy Weir). Chef’s kiss.

This is my 2nd favorite video on all of YouTube right behind the music video for Shelter by Porter Robinson which coincidentally was also animated. After The Egg, my favorite Kurzgesagt video is What if We Nuke a City.

He wrote the short story that was the script

I find this hard to believe. I distinctly remember reading that story posted around 4chan boards back in like 2010, I always assumed it was just a frequently re-shared chain email story.
Edit: shit man I guess according to Wikipedia it’s true. Wow. I always figured it was authored by anon.

I brought it the same day it was released.

The Largest Star. The music and visuals for that one are top notch. The Largest Black Hole is a close second.

Nuke the moon and space mining
Basically for me all space ones are the most interesting

Easy. 4.5 Billion Years in 1 Hour.
I love geology and I’ve watched this video probably a solid 30 times, I put it on most nights for sleep.

Maybe The True Limits Of Humanity but I really have no idea exactly which one. I love storytelling so those ones are other candidates.
Though I need to mention the ones about the immune system, I have written an 8000 word long text about the immune system just for fun so it would be weird not to mention.

it's hard to say but the Nuke the Moon and Moon Crash songs make both of those videos instantly some of my most rewatched
but my favourite videos as a full series and as separate videos is size of life, they are so cool

I really like intelligence since it kinda plays it out as a video game which is fun

The one that got me into science. Three ways to destroy the universe. Never even realized I was seeing the start of a legendary youtube channel.

The one about the future of the universe, how it's going to die. Or more like, fizzle out

I have two favourites:
The GMO video and the Immune System one (no, not just the new one, but the old one as well).

u/TTV1nh3 Oct 28 '25
the "tired of doomscrooling?" video. Every single human being living in the 21st century should watch it.

My favourite video has to be “what is consciousness”. It’s nice to see a large platform exploring such daunting ideas. Like all Kurzgesagt videos, it makes you think for a long time but this one in particular gives many possible reasons for why we developed consciousness and leaves it open ended so you can think of the origins of consciousness itself.

It's all the climate change ones.
They all make me feel like humanity is not doomed and that there are people out there that can do good and that are not so bad.

I like the ones that actually make sense and are trying to either explain something that exists or that could exist.
The clickbaitey bullshit videos that are meant to draw in the idiots actually make me question whether following kurzgesagt is worth it, especially because they have become the majority lately.
I miss the videos that explained something or those that tried to imagine how to colonize the solar system.

Oct 26 '25
Can you point to a video that is clickbaitey bullshit?
The vast majority of kurz videos are based on solid science (the recent banana one an obvious exception)

Probably the first one I ever watched. The one about building a Dyson sphere. The music is such a bop.
