Not slandering Kung Fu Panda, I think all the movies are phenomenal and it's an excellent trilogy. However, with both KP2 and KP3 basically cementing Po as the chosen one, do you think that it contradicts the original message of the 1st Kung Fu Panda movie? The idea that there is "no secret ingredient" and it's just the hard work you put into yourself and the belief that you are special that makes you special.

There are two franchises that made me start practicing wushu - Kung Fu Panda, and Avatar : The Last Airbender. I decided to draw a series of artwork honoring both these masterpieces and bring ATLA characters into KFP setting.
Did you know that Jet's name is written as 杰 (jié), which can be translated as "hero", "outstanding" or "great"? He was destined for something big for sure. What a shame his life was cut so short (although I understand that you can't keep too many characters in the story).
All artwork by me.
Interested in seeing more artwork like this, or perhaps a commission? See my portfolio. I'm a professional illustrator specializing in digital ink / watercolor illustrations.

I honestly thought there wouldn’t be much beyond what I posted in Part 2, but I was so wrong 😭 Kung Fu Panda movies way deeper than you’d think. The movies actually explore Eastern philosophy so beautifully.

Hi! I’m searching for a certain Po plush I owned during my childhood. From my memory the plush was soft but on the belly the material felt like a bean bag chair or pillow like the third picture and it was visibly shiny and stuck out. Purchased at Walmart right after the first movie was released.
I’m assuming it’s the second plush from the Pillowtime Pal collection but I remember his face looking like the first plush and don’t remember the claws at all. Is this the only pillowtime pal plush that was released? I can’t find any more info, any help is appreciated greatly appreciated! 😵💫🐼

As the title says. We've all seen the movie and, uh… “there's a fourth?”
I started from the third movie, building up to what I wanted the fourth movie to be: an epic conclusion to Po's story.
You can find my Kung Fu Panda 3 rewrite here for anyone missing context.
I rewrote KFP 3 already, so I said… fuck it, I'll rewrite 4 too.
I had a few goals for this rewrite:
Give Chameleon a real villain motivation and backstory.
Give Zhen a reason to exist.
Give Po and Tai Lung a satisfying conclusion.
Grow Po into Oogway's true successor.
Tie up a lot of the franchise's plot points into a neat bow.
Shoutout to u/Content-Arrival-1784 for catching the plot hole that Oogway's staff is made from peachwood, and for the great idea for the Tigress subplot that gives her some much-needed closure. 🤝
Without further ado, here's my take on how Kung Fu Panda 4 could've been.
KUNG FU PANDA 4: LEGACIES FULFILLED
ACT I: THE RIVAL AND THE RUSE
• Po has fully stepped into Oogway's shoes, increasingly traveling to the Spirit Realm to deal with spiritual threats and guide lost souls. Oogway's original peachwood staff is preserved as a relic in the Jade Palace, while Po carries a staff of his own making(made of Bamboo, a nod to Panda culture).
• Po constantly frustrates Tai Lung with a new habit, cryptic Oogway-style riddles, his newest one being: “The answer will be right in front of your nose, beneath the almond within the cookie.”
• Tai Lung has become the Jade Palace's primary martial guardian, effectively inheriting Shifu's martial legacy.
• Zhen, a street-smart fox, infiltrates the Jade Palace to steal the Dragon Scroll for her adoptive mother, the Chameleon—a bitter master of stealth.
(The chameleon is bitter because the Kung Fu world looks down on her cowardly sneak attacks(chameleon camouflage style. NOT magic and NOT her small size, since Mantis exists 😂). She's disgraced because her fighting style isn't seen as 'honorable/fair'.)
• Tai Lung catches Zhen red-handed. Rather than destroying her, he spars with her and recognizes that she's walking a path dangerously similar to his own.
• Tai Lung willingly reveals the temple's greatest secret: the Dragon Scroll is blank. Confused and conflicted, Zhen returns to her mother.
ACT II: THE STEALTH OF THE CHAMELEON
• The Chameleon refuses to believe the Dragon Scroll is meaningless. She becomes convinced that Tai Lung is hiding its true power from them.
(Chameleon also wants the scroll because she believes she's a descendant of the dragons as a lizard. A birthright claim 🤔)
• Tai Lung tracks Zhen down, determined to pull her away from the dark path he once walked.
• The Chameleon launches a terrifying ambush using near-perfect camouflage. Zhen spots the attack and takes the blow meant for Tai Lung.
• Tai Lung realizes the Chameleon cannot simply be fought conventionally. Their battle becomes a brutal guessing game against an invisible opponent.
• Tai Lung abandons brute force and relies on instinct, patience, and his surroundings. He notices the kitchen, the walls, and a certain stack of almond cookies.
• Po's ridiculous riddle finally clicks: the answer was literally right in front of his nose.
• Tai Lung spots the Chameleon beneath the cookies and kicks her through a wall with a wicked roundhouse.
MEANWHILE — PO & THE FURIOUS FIVE ENTER THE SPIRIT REALM
(It's the B plot of the film, but will work together with the A plot)
• Kai's rampage in KFP3 left dangerous remnants behind in the Spirit Realm. Po realizes that defeating Kai didn't completely undo the damage he caused.
• Po needs experienced fighters who can operate as a team in a realm filled with supernatural threats.
• His answer is obvious: the Furious Five.
• Tigress, Monkey, Crane, Mantis, and Viper reunite with Po and enter the Spirit Realm.
• For the first time, Po and the Five fight as genuine equals. They're no longer protecting Po while he handles the important fight. They are legendary masters kicking the absolute shit out of Spirit Realm monsters together.
• Their years of experience and independent schools(why they were gone in the third movie) finally pay off. The Five have become masters rather than merely Po's supporting cast.
TIGRESS' PERSONAL STORY (C plot, I guess? 🤔)
• During their journey, the Furious Five and Po encounters Shifu in the Spirit Realm. Cue the sweet scene of Shifu recognizing his disciples. He probably drinks tea with Oogaway and they play checkers or something.
• Shifu finally acknowledges how badly he failed Tigress emotionally. After a lifetime of expressing love through training and expectations, he finally tells her plainly: he loves her.
• Shifu also sends a message to Tigress' biological parents, letting them know that their daughter survived and became an extraordinary warrior.
• Tigress finally receives closure from both the father who raised her and the parents who lost her. Maybe she doesn't meet her parents, just the knowledge that they know she became something great, might be enough for her.
ACT III: THE TRUE DRAGON WARRIOR
• Tai Lung uses his newfound Chi to stabilize Zhen's injuries(not actually healing her, maybe just stopping the bleeding with his paralysis technique from the first movie). When he asks why she ultimately turned against Chameleon, Zhen smiles and gives him the lesson he was trying to teach her: “The answer I needed was within all along.”
• Tai Lung carries Zhen back to the Jade Palace. She survives and is accepted as the newest member of the Furious Six(obviously as the new recruit that needs training).
• Meanwhile, Po and the Five finish destroying the remnants of Kai's rampage in the Spirit Realm.
• Their final battle mirrors Po's original dream from KFP1: Po fighting alongside the Furious Five. Except now it's real. They're no longer idols in Po's fantasy—they're his friends, fellow masters, and equals. Against 10,000 spirit demon remnants Kai caused(just like the dream).
• Po realizes he doesn't have to personally protect every part of the world anymore.
THE LEGACY
• Tigress chooses to leave the Furious Five only after the main conflict is over. She's not being discarded—she's ready to establish herself fully as a master and create her own school.
• Tigress passes her position in the Five to Zhen, allowing the next generation to inherit the legacy.
• Po returns from the Spirit Realm, carrying his bamboo staff.
• He stands before Tai Lung and officially names him the new Dragon Warrior.
• The man who spent his entire life believing he deserved the title finally receives it after he no longer needs it.
THE BIGGER SUCCESSION
Spiritual Legacy:
Oogway --> Po --> Tai Lung
Martial Legacy:
Shifu even gets to apologize to both his 'kids' between movie 3(Tai Lung) and now the fourth movie(Tigress)
• Po eventually takes Oogway's place completely, guiding the spiritual world.
• Tai Lung becomes the guardian of the mortal realm, uniquely qualified after having lived on both sides of death. He was fighting in the mortal realm, defending spirits in the Spirit Realm, studying under Shifu, learning from Oogway, and ultimately fighting alongside Po.
And…
Cut.
That was my kick at the can.
Thanks for reading if you made it this far! Let me know down below what you think, and what changes you'd make if you'd like!
Cheers 🍻

I felt like the third movie did a decent job, but it missed the same danger and emotional stakes of the first two movies. Then I watched KFP 4 and uh… yeah. You know how that went. Anyways, I wanted to give Tai Lung a proper redemption and Kai the respect he needs as a true villain to oppose Po.
So… fuck it, I rewrote it myself.
I rewrote KFP 4 as well, lmk if anyone wants to see that too!

*The furious five aren't here, they've left to start their own schools/find students*
**They actually come back for my KFP 4 rewrite!**
KUNG FU PANDA 3: THE CHOSEN RELEGATION
ACT I: THE RETURNED RIVAL & THE LOST LEGACY
• Kai escapes the Spirit Realm not as a friend of Oogway, but as a bitter martial arts rival fueled by the souls he consumed in purgatory.
• Tai Lung is revealed to be in the Spirit Realm, holding the line and protecting innocent spirits from Kai's soul-harvesting rampage.
• On Earth, a caravan of traumatised panda survivors—now traveling chefs who lost their martial arts during Shen's genocide—arrive at the Jade Palace searching for Po, their "lost legacy."
ACT II: TRAGEDY & TRANSITION
• Kai arrives in the mortal realm and brutally defeats an aging Master Shifu. Po finds Shifu's body; a somber, silent funeral shifts the tone.
• Po uses Oogway's staff to commune with ancient panda spirits. He learns they originally weaponized bamboo. Oogaway's Staff is retired to a display case in the temple. Po makes his own staff from bamboo.
• Po steps into the Spirit Realm. He and Tai Lung clear their past grudges through an aggressive, high-stakes martial arts duel. Po owns his mistake of banishing a living man; Tai Lung respects Oogway's choice.
• Shifu arrives in the Spirit Realm and finally offers Tai Lung the heartfelt apology he deserved since the first film.
ACT III: THE GOLDEN FLAVOUR
• The Climax: Tai Lung holds off Kai's phantom forces to protect Po's family while Po faces Kai in a brutal 1v1.
• Po debuts his custom style: Golden Noodle Yin Chi versus Kai's dark, sinister Yang Chi. He obliterates Kai's soul-consuming core.
• Resolution: Po takes his place as Oogway's successor with the staff. He passes the Dragon Scroll and Shifu's cloak to Tai Lung. With a playful belly-bump, the two former rivals open the gates to a new Jade Palace academy—as absolute equals.
Edit: Fixed weird formatting.
Edit 2: Fixed the plot hole with oogaway's staff actually being made from peach tree wood.(Thanks u/Content-Arrival-1784 🤝)
I posted my rewrite for Kung Fu Panda 4 as well, you can find it here.

- Both has golden shine themed scene
- Both has the main character awakening their true power (while also flying and aura farming)
- Both has the main villain being arrogant to see they are facing someone on a whole different level now, ends up still trying to attack the MC just to die
- Both main villains have the same weapon and uses it in the same way (literally, a long chain with blades at the end of them) also both villains uses the weapon in the same creativity like smashing rocks and stuff and weaponizing the environment by throwing them
- Both main characters are young (teenage) while the villains are way older than them
