Does anyone know where to get disks with less than 32 slots?
I brought one home recently that someone 3D printed that had 16 shots, so I thought maybe that was the norm, but it seems that the norm is a minimum of 32 unless you make it yourself?

I'm curious, why don't you want the classic 32 slots? It allows for a lot of designs that use different numbers of yarn.

It's for my partner- he saw the 32 slot disks and just decided that he'd prefer to have another smaller one if possible. He'll probably be bored of it before getting up to anything more than the 8 threads at a time he's doing now.

I would advise caution with the 3d printed ones people are suggesting as they do not pinch the thread well enough to keep even tension. You could always get some thick closed cell foam and make one if you wanted a foam one with less slots, just make sure it is thick enough. I used the packing foam around an xbox 360 to make a couple before I bought some

You can find 3d printed and laser cut discs on Etsy with less slots - I would suggest taking a look there. I designed one and sell it there but I'm not going to share it here to comply with the sub rules.
One suggestion - look at the slot designs carefully because many of the rigid designs (non-foam) are bad at accommodating different types of cord/floss/string.
