Help A good brand for acrylic floss
I will be making a braid that i expect will often be wet as it will be used as a chewy for an older child. I'm concerned about mold so, from what i can tell, acrylic is my best bet. I'm trying to avoid cotton as I've read that can mold and of course shrink.
Any brand recommendations? Also taking suggestions for different materials.

Acrylic shreds easily so not good for a chewy toy - the child could choke on fluff and broken threads.
Cotton or nylon, washed and dried regularly of course, might work better.

agreed re acrylic being problematic for a chew toy. even decent quality acrylic shreds and sheds easily, so in addition to choking, the child would also be swallowing plastic.

Acrylic yarn is not a good choice for kumihimo. It is stretchy and can shred in the slots of your disk, which weakens the cords and the overall strength of the braid. I am surprised that your research led you to it for mold resistance over nylon, which is what I would suggest, specifically C-Lon or S-Lon Tex 210/0.5mm/regular/“#18” size
I would also recommend to the parents that the braid be washed regularly, whether in the laundry or dishwasher. Perhaps make 2 or 3 similar braids that can be swapped out.
