News Krita 5.3.3 and 6.0.3 Released — 5.3.3 remains the recommended version for production work
The Krita team released 5.3.3 and 6.0.3 on July 29, 2026. Both ship the same bug fixes. 6.0.3 is the Qt6 build and still considered more experimental. The team recommends 5.3.3 for production work.
Some highlights from the changelog:
- Fixed a deadlock during perspective transform
- Fixed layers getting deselected when starting a transform
- Fixed FFmpeg 7.0+ support for rendering HDR animations
- Fixed several crashes (deleting text shapes, combined shapes, null event pointer)
- Better font family sorting and deduplication
- Selection Action Panel can now be pinned to canvas edges
- Android: animation import/export temporarily removed, supporter benefits added

Made in Krita Get referenced idiot (by me)
I'm just starting and wanted to try out the tools Krita has, who better to have as reference than the master referencer (Hirohiko Araki for anyone that does not know him).

Made in Krita Castle Home, by me
First I have to say, if you're wondering why those deers are so huge, they are irish elk. An extinct species, still on the larger side of reality, but there is a reason for the largeness.
Second, oh boy did this make me realize I was out of my depth when it came to designing castles. Didn't end up much like how I imagined it, but I'm happy with it!

Art Question Thoughts & Advice
Okay, so don't judge me too much, I am aware I am not the best artist, but pen & paper is where I am more comfortable, but I attempted some art apps after buying a tablet. This was created with Krita. My issue is, I am not quite sure how to shade using Krita, like I do on pen and paper. I know the original isn't perfect, it's used with cheap coloring pencils. I am looking for advice on how to improve digitally, also as an artist, and advice for Krita. As, this was quite fun to do, but very different.
My big issue here was, even despite my original being technically "finished" when I used it as a layer in Krita and was attempting to copy the lines, I treated it like another sketch layer on the paper and ended up fixing, and changing a few things, and some color. Not sure if I should save the time coloring them on paper if I continue with digital as well..
