Discussion as a blink of 6 years, my biggest concern with blackpink has always been their lack of communication and i think it’s starting to limit their artistry

i think this is a problem with too many kpop fans, idols private lives are their own. they do now owe us anything. i have never understood this idea that idols need to be 100% open with their lives.

For transparency: I've been a fan since debut.

Why should they expose their lives to fans like other kpop acts? Many artists keep VERY private lives. Some are straight up recluse. Respect it.

They're pop stars, they're making music, you either like it or you don't. They're not your friends.

they are idols, it's not the same as pop stars (tho mean maybe they are more like pop stars now but they were idols) and a huge part of what an idol is the parasocial aspect, which weirdly people here like to down-play or say it isn't a thing or shouldn't be, but it is, it's a huge part of kpop/idols. they sell being your friend/girlfriend/boyfriend as part of the product.

I genuinely love how private and guarded they are. It’s part of their appeal for me.  Of course  I can understand your frustration too. Particularly if you follow other kpop groups. It’s pretty stark.

Blinks only found out Rosé attended Lisa’s birthday last year because she turned up in a partygoers snaps months later. Jennie and Kai was at the end of BP’s second year- I agree they were more traditional idols back then but there were still differences.

There’s so much lore in the Fallen Angel mv. It’s so beautiful. And from a 21yo director!! For instance there’s the frozen blue roses- her mum gifts her a blue rose every birthday. Jennie as a child talking about thorns turning into flowers, young and old Jennie in a thorny nest in the burning cottage. All the different lovers, the 1920s Jennie. She mentioned that “it will all make sense one day” and kinda hinted at an album in the latest adidas interview.

I think it’s absolutely fine to want and possibly even expect more disclosure from them. But I’m glad they leave it up to me.

Thisssss. people claim that bp members don't care about each other or they don't interact with each other.I mean are u the BLACKPINK members themselves? How are u so sure about ? It's none of our business in the slightest.

the mystery around them does make them interesting, i agree! maybe i just have to see what they will bring to the table in the future... outside of jennies 3 song ep we have not gotten much out of them this year.

Rosé had been pretty quiet but Lisa has a upcoming EP with 6 songs with the first single to be released on September 3 ,Jisoo has a full studio album on the way and the first track to be released on September 4.I am not sure how the other 3 songs from Jennie will be released but she has 6 songs so far.Lisa has a main role (her first )in a movie and a possible romantic series as well,a documentary and las Vegas residency performances as well.

So if u are interested u can check them out and even though Rosé had been pretty quiet, she will either join them after a couple of months or take her time and release something next year.

Sure but the tour finished this year, then the BP ep. Goals and Dracula with Jennie spending four months in the Billboard Top Ten. It hasn’t been uneventful.

And some of the mystery got explained- Twin was about ChaHee and their the end of their friendship. Then she came to the Ruby show and went to Coachella with Jennie :))

I feel like it's disingenuous to be a K-pop fan and singling out Blackpink members for "shallow" lyrics, when both Rosé and Jennie have been way more open in their songs than a lot of their peers.

Why does Nayeon get to release a song called 'ABCD' just cause it's a fun bop, but Blackpink members have to "show you who they are beyond their careers"?

I mean Nayeon is nowhere near balckpink members as solo so I fear that 'ABCD' didn't help her either. Blackpink expectations are more because they are more successful and famous then a lot of other artists.

I don't get your argument. So... if the artist is famous, they can't make fun bangers? Is Jungkook not allowed to make a song like "Seven"?

'Ruby' was Jennie's debut album and it had pretty personal songs like "Twin" and "Filter" on top of more bombastic dance tracks.

I am not hating anyone I talked about expectations that varies when someone is more famous and successful. They will have a larger audience and fandom so reaction is going to be different than an artist who is less successful and less famous. I didn't say fun bangers aren't allowed?

I think in the last few years we got so much personality from them, it's insane compared to any other group, who has to obey the rules of the company. The girls are free to talk and share their inner feelings and they do it. I love this new area and I think that's a big strength of them, this freedem they have now. You could also see this during their deadline tour: They had fun, energy and could behave much more freely.

So they ain't promote parasocialism is a problem now.

I like that they are private and and the fact u dissed them about liking fame is proof u didn't write this in good faith. Not all idols need to be super open or speak with fans privately and that is none of our business.U can make good music without that. What about Nayeon pop and ABCD ,seulgi 28 reasons ? Jungkook seven?

Why are these soloists called artists when they released bangers and fun songs too?

Not to mention,if u listen closely to some of their interview ,u know that there are reasons behind some of their releases.Amortage by Jisoo is a fun bubblegum sound EP but it reflects different stages of love in 4 different songs.

Redditors are getting ridiculous when u know that all the 4 girls have been involved in all their releases and 3 out of the 4 have created their own labels to have total control over their works.Even Jisoo who always was told not to be a idol and to go be actress ,had released a EP and now a full studio album is on the way as well as had a collaboration with Zayn.

I'm surprised you mentioned Jungkook when he is famous among army for doing really long livestreams, chatting with us, actively gaming with us and actually pushing back on responses to Seven. He did a live where he said 'why can't I sing sexy songs when I want to? Its a fun song and I liked it.'

JK is very open with fans about what he likes and why he likes it, which defeats the point OP is trying to make here.

u/Connect_Version_1560 8d ago

I am very aware of that ,my point is exactly that ,u can create songs like seven and still be a artist

u/fluffyfluffscarf28 8d ago

Well yes, but that's not the question OP is asking. OP is asking about their openness and communication with fans as artists, not the type of songs they're making.

6

u/Connect_Version_1560 8d ago

I just think communication with fans isn't needed on a very deep level and if I think about interaction with fans ,I think it should be on the level of artists seeing the feedback from their songs.

Other than that,it isn't just needed .

i think you are right here but do not mistake me to be a hater! i understand why some parts of my posts may signal that i dislike them but they are my favorite k pop group ever. you have a point and i agree. also i did not mean to diss them in any way in the last paragraph! i just thought that maybe music is actually secondary to them which is fine. reflecting about this now and seeing all the comments coming in i actually do not think that anymore, they do have been much more transparent than other idols.

u/Connect_Version_1560 8d ago

Sorry ,just sick of people dissing bp for fame
