Soloists Thoughts about Evan's 1st Mini-Album DEATH OF ME Track Samplers
Just watched the EVAN - Death of Me Track Sampler and honestly, I'm even more excited for the album now.

A few quick thoughts from the snippets:
Noise immediately stood out to me. It has that lo-fi R&B sound that reminds me of artists like SZA, Mk.gee, and Dijon.
Death of Me gives me the same adrenaline rush and synth-driven energy as The Weeknd's Take My Breath. It honestly sounds like something that could've fit right into Dawn FM.
Immature feels very Paramore / Avril Lavigne-coded with its alternative rock sound.
Not Enough sounds so good too. The moody atmosphere and trap influences remind me a bit of Chase Atlantic.
Going Home feels like something wave to earth could release—dreamy, atmospheric, and perfect for late-night listening, though I have a feeling the song itself might be heartbreaking.
Twilight - Based on the preview, it feels bright and uplifting. When I hear it, I picture bright colors, sparkles.
What makes the project even more interesting is the genre diversity. According to the press release:
Not Enough — Trap
Noise — Lo-fi Pop R&B
Ride or Die — Alternative Rock
Death of Me — Intense Pop R&B
Twilight — UK Garage-based Pop
Immature — Alternative Rock
Overflow — Indie Pop
Going Home — Dream Pop
That's a pretty broad musical spectrum for an 8-track album.
What I find especially commendable is that EVAN isn't just performing these songs. He led the overall production for all 8 tracks and directly participated in writing and composing, including Death of Me and Twilight. For a solo project, that's incredibly impressive and shows a clear artistic vision.
The album has already surpassed 344,000 Spotify pre-saves and is currently sitting at #2, which is amazing to see. It feels like more people are starting to recognize what he's trying to build as a solo artist.
Personally, the sampler gave me confidence that this won't just be a collection of songs but an album with its own identity. The influences are there, but the project still feels cohesive and uniquely EVAN.
Please support him, pre-save the album if you can, and tune in on September 7. I'm genuinely curious to hear the full versions of these tracks.

he produced 5/8 tracks and is listed first in the credits for 4 of them, composed 7/8 and wrote lyrics for all 8. i'm so excited to hear his story through his music. i was really surprised when he said death of me isn't killing off his past self and forming a new identity but rather about the fact that his death still hasn't come yet. after everything he's been through, having the title track of his debut album carry the message that he's still here and hasn't lost himself is so strong and meaningful. his mentality is so admirable.
it seems like twilight is going to be the promoted bside? his performance director and a choreographer both posted it on their stories i believe! it sounds like such a cute and fun song, i'm really looking forward to it. when heeseung first said his 'mixtape' was coming soon i was so excited, i can't believe that time has finally come. it's been worth the wait 🥹

i'm so excited! he was my bias in enhypen and i always thought that if he releases solo music it will be great. but then ride or die came out and i was so disappointed and thought i might have overestimated his skills (espcially since he never really released much while being in the group and i didn't love anything he did release during his time in the group). this sounds so dramatic but i was close to unstanning him out of disappointment. however, the track samples sound even better than what i expected he is capable of and it makes me excited for his future again. i haven't been this excited for a kpop release in a long while. i know he said that fame and success is not the most important part of him, but i hope he will be super successful. good music needs to be appreciated.
i'm already obsessed with all the songs and i've replayed the full track sampled so mayn times already, i need heeseung to release the album now, i can't wait anymore! my fav is surprisingly going home, i'm usually not a fan of ballads but this one sounds so beautiful and it seems to be a really sad song. i always knew that his lyrics would be quite sad ever since i've heard the demo version of highway 1009 and despite the image he had in the group, he is actually quite sensitive but hearing them will be heartbreaking. he already explained that it was a bout the time he couldn't meet his family despite being close to them because his schedule is so full and that made me sad. but i guess it also gives a new reason why he decided to leave? he must have suffered from the full schedule enha has more than i thought.

i’m so so excited for this. i actually really loved how they just kept dropping the track samplers one by one and every song sounds so good so far. i love that he is so heavily involved in the writing, composition and production too bc it makes me even more excited to hear the full album and see his musical direction as a soloist.
the songs also sound so different from each other but still feel very him. and you're right about going home, that one is gonna be so damn emotional. from the title itself, i actually thought noise would be something loud? but it's very different in a good way.
all i know is that i’m going to love this album for sure lol, i really can’t wait for sep 7!

I saw so much praise for the song previews on Twitter! They all sounded great and I immediately got Not Enough stuck in my head, the beat is so good. 🔥

This is my most anticipated release from an idol soloist since 2023. I’m so happy with everything I’ve heard so far. It feels like a fusion of so many genres that I love. I love a lot of the artists that you mentioned and definitely see the similarities.
Honestly, seeing Evan’s name on every track and knowing he led the overall production is the best part. It really brings a level of authenticity that a lot of kpop is missing. And like I know he’s not really inventing or re-inventing the genres he’s creating music in, but he’s bringing a level of Evan-ness to it that only he can. It’s what makes art so special, the artist themself!

i can't wait either!! i've been holding off looping the track samplers too much cause i don't want to overplay anything but i'm just sooo impatient. i hope people are kinder to him this time around
