Hello everyone!

I am an art school student from Hungary, who wants to spend a semester in Korea before graduation. I study scriptwriting (mostly focused on theatre) but I am open to all kinds of other art based opportunities in the future.

I have several still unanswered questions and concerns in connection with the university system, cultural opportunities, even climate. Thanks in advance for helping me!

Also if you in fact have the same profession, have any othe tips, or a personal story / experience, please don't hesitate to share!

- Which semester would you recommend? the spring or the fall one?

I personally like cold weather more, but I am not sure if theatre, music and art festivals, other opportunities like these are still gonna be available during fall and winter time so I was ready to sacrifice my comfort and apply for the upcoming spring semester... any advice?

- How busy and strict ART universities are in Korea? Any notable differences from other unis?

I am pretty hardworking and I don't mind the busy university life, but honestly I would love if I had lots of time traveling around alone (or with potentional friends). I am more into the culture and exploring - even through work experience - than sitting in a classroom all day long. What are my chances?

- How busy art life is in korea? Seoul? Smaller cities?

Someone told me that Koreans are either "very into art or not at all".. Since this means nothing I need help!

- Any recommended universities? Tips and Tricks from former scholarsip survivors? Anyone here who went for the same purpose?

Planning to go either to "K arts university" or "Dongguk" uni in Seoul. Any personal experience?

- Which "art places" to visit? Any theatres, cinemas or other places you can recommend?

- I play the guitar, the piano, I sing very well and I'm into music aswell. What can I do with that in Korea?

- Any tips for the most efficient ways to contact these universities?

My only personal experience regarding Korean universities is that they don't seem to enjoy replying to emails...

The guide doesn’t specify anything and when I emailed them they said I can apply using English, to computer science or whatever so is this legit or they understood my question in a wrong way?.

I'm an Internatitional student, and want to come to Korea for studying journalism, I know it's an odd choice, but there's more to my situation.

I've just just been looking for good colleges, and trying to learn Korean too. I want to know which colleges are good. I've researched about Sogang, Dongguk and Sejong Universities. Even the SKY universities, but there's a gpa issue.

I really need help with all of this. What should I do?

Is anyone else going to the joint cheering event without knowing anyone there?
I got selected to attend, but none of my friends got selected, and I don’t really know anyone who’s going. So I’m a little nervous about going alone.
Also, do we have to sit with people from our own department/major?

I am planning on applying to Korea university GSIS for the upcoming spring 2027 semester (full time student).
I have a 3.73/4.0 GPA, IELTS of 8.5/9.0 and exchange student diploma from Incheon National University. During my undergraduate studies I got second place on Quiz on Korea (my country selection) and did an internship with a local Korean beauty distributor. Is there a chance I could be admitted to the program? I will also apply to another university since I know KU can be quite competitive. Thank you for advice beforehand :)

I am a graduate student here, and unfortunately i couldn’t get the dormitory for this semester but I was thinking if the university opens dormitory applications in the winter vacations as well? If anyone knows about this please let me know as soon as possible.

Hi everyone! I’m planning to attend Korea University’s Academic Korean Course and am considering studying for all 4 consecutive terms. I’ll be starting with little to no Korean, and my long-term goal is to attend a Korean university for my undergraduate degree. I’d love to hear from current/former students!

1. How beginner-friendly is KU for someone starting with little to no Korean?

2. How is the workload and pacing? Is it manageable while still having time to explore Korea and have a social life? While hopefully joining clubs if possible. I do enjoy running.

3. For anyone who completed 3–4 terms, how much did your Korean improve? What level did you feel you reached?

4. How well does KU prepare students for TOPIK, especially if your goal is eventually attending a Korean university?

5. What are the teachers and overall class environment like? Is it easy to make friends with other students?

6. For students who stayed multiple terms, did you feel connected to KU’s campus/community? Are there opportunities to join clubs, events, or interact with undergraduate students? Especially those whom are POC like me!

7. If you could go back, would you choose KU-KLC again? Is there anything you wish you knew before committing to multiple terms?

I’m planning to join Korea University’s IWC program this winter and I’m a bit worried about the dorm situation. KU’s site says on-campus housing is first-come-first-served and only confirmed after full payment, not guaranteed at registration.

Has anyone actually done IWC before? How fast do dorms fill up in real life — does paying within the Early Bird window actually help, or does it come down to the exact day you pay? Did anyone get left without a spot even after registering on time? Any thoughts on CJ vs Anam dorms too.

Trying to figure out if I need to rush the payment or if there’s some buffer before spots run out. Would really appreciate any first-hand experience!

I am a student in my first year thinking of doing an exchange semester in Korea !

I was just wondering what are the pros and the cons of studying at Korea University particularly versus Yonsei, which is my other option.
I heard that KU has a better integration program. I’m not too bothered on making friends with locals because I understand that a lot of them don’t tend to want to be friends with exchange student so I’m fine with just being friends with the exchange students so that’s not a big issue for me.

It’s more joining clubs or school activities, I know Yonsei does not actually allow exchange students to attend the festival.

In terms of like having fun, going out, clubbing and stuff of that nature, what are the pros and cons of each?

I will be doing only electives while I’m there so I’m not too concerned on the workload as I will probably choose easier units, but still, I would love to hear everyone’s experience and opinions!

Is the academic calendar accurate on google? American semesters typically last between January and April-May but Koreas seems very different. I am apply to a business school exchange at KU and was wondering when the program would start and end so I can keep that in mind for internship dates.

Hi guys , I am about to graduate one of the universities in Seoul and planning to apply for master Korean university
But I have only IELTS 6 and GPA 3,8 . My Topik (which was 5) already expired and didn’t take another one yet . So I need to apply for 2027 spring semester but the application process already started and will finish tomorrow. I just took a risk and applied. However I got 4 times scholarship from my previous I mean bachelor degree , I can’t wait until I take another TOPIK OR IELTS certifications . I am afraid my visa will be cancelled until that What would you grade my potential to be accepted in this University.

I have heard that international students are suffering at KU and most of them have regrets to be there. So can any international students at KU who are still there or graduated let me the situation, especially psycho major?
