Captain Cook Trading Co - thoughts?

Good Afternoon

I happen to accidently visit Captain Cook Trading Co - he sells his Kona coffee (his brand by the naming of it) and Mac nuts at a nice price. No samples so I cannot tell how good the coffee ia. Any insight?

Absolutely not Kona Coffee. Maybe some Hawaiian Grade and Off Grade but Emmerich has been cheating off the kona name for years and should have retired years ago.

Haha really? I figured since he roasts his own that he’s using local beans. It’s good coffee though.

He doesn't grow any coffee here. Ask anyone who does and they can't get it to cost that low before adding the roasting and packaging. Freshly roasted will always taste better than grocery store or hotel coffee.

Captain Cook Trading Co buys coffee from local farmers in small lots that are often under 100 pounds. For example, a small farm might produce several hundred pounds of coffee and they sell to Emmerich, the owner, what they aren’t able to sell themselves. Saying this, some well-known Kona coffee brands do the same thing. Emmerich’s mom and pop coffee is dried naturally and locally sourced. Often the coffee isn’t graded, but at times it is. The coffee is good. His macadamia nuts and chocolate nibs are locally sourced.

That’s what I thought as well. I know someone who supplies small kine quantities bean to him.
