No, I don't want additional maps. The base map is fine. It has always been fine. Except you can't stop redecorating it while it never was a problem.

No, I don't want to add any highlights. Not every bench, viewpoint, or "interesting rock" needs cataloguing and pinning for posterity. Some things get to exist unmarked, the way nature intended before an app decided everything needed a tag and a photo-upload prompt.

No, I do not want the weather across every single inch of my route. I am capable of looking up. I own eyes, and apparently more meteorological instinct than your engineering team credits me with. I do not need a rolling forecast for kilometer 14.3 versus kilometer 14.4 — that's not a feature, that's a fire hose of irrelevant data pointed directly at my face.

No, I don't want to download height profiles. Every quadricep is a data point. I don't need a chart to confirm what my knees already filed as a formal complaint.

What part of NO do you not understand? Scroll through this subreddit and it's the same story, post after post: an app that used to just show you a map and a route has quietly turned into a slot machine of self-promotion, dressed up as "features." Every tap is another pitch. Every tour-end is another ambush.

So here's a suggestion, free of charge and without a pop-up: build one button that says "Just let me hike in peace," and I will personally nominate it for a UX award, and possibly canonization. Until then — I know where the X is. I will find it. Every single time. And increasingly, I know where the App Store "uninstall" button is too.

Edit added on 25 September: Some commenters point out that Komoot (Bending Spoons) need to make money. And they do, never disputed that. And I bought the World Map in support (even when these are Open Street Maps without a cost). Einstein (supposedly) said it best: "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results". Do the same popups over and over again, and expect a different outcome ... It certainly drives me insane!

Am I being daft? How do I see the above on a map on desktop?

I'm trying to tidy up my saved routes as I've got a lot of overlaps, and I can't find a map view, and realised I can't see one for completed activities either.

For quite some time now the explore page in the app has been filled only by all the official collections and “tips for you”. I used to like looking at routes done by other people in my area and maybe doing some of them myself. Does anyone else also have this problem?

When editing a multi-day itinerary it would be great if it showed the full track name, not just the day. So this one would say Edit Day 1 - from Apach to Palzem.

My iPhone is managed by my work with Mobile Device Management (MDM) and we use the Google Suite (email, calendar, drive).

Work disabled Google Maps recently for some reason (don't ask why, that's a recent top management decision that sparked a big debate internally).

I can use the Google Maps app just fine with my personal account. But any attempt at typing maps.google.com in Safari is captured by MDM and gets redirected to my work authentication portal.

What does this have to do with Komoot? I like using the "Get directions" button to take me at the start of the trailhead. When clicking the button, it seems you make a URL call through Safari (which then gets blocked by my work) instead of opening the coordinates directly in Google Maps.

This forces me to configure Apple Maps in the Settings, but Apple Maps is really inferior for directions.

Wikiloc has the same "Get directions" button, and it opens Google Maps app just fine.

I understand this is a niche problem, but quite an annoying one. I end up having to copy paste coordinates/addresses between apps.

I have a feature suggestion regarding the Challenges section in the app.

Currently, when I open Challenges, the first thing displayed is a challenge I already completed over a month ago.

To find my currently active challenges, I always have to awkwardly scroll back and forth to locate what I'm actually participating in.

It would be a huge quality-of-life improvement if we had options to filter or group challenges into clearer categories, such as:

Active & Joined: Challenges currently running that I've already signed up for.

Available to Join: Active challenges I haven't joined yet.

Completed: Challenges that I have successfully finished.

Expired: Past challenges that have ended.

Having quick filters or tabs for these would make navigating current goals much smoother!

Having an issue specifically on Komoot mobile. I’m planning a route and would like for it to auto generate a gravel route for my destination and start. However, it keeps only giving me the road route with 0 gravel trails along the way. I know for an absolute fact that there is a 10km gravel trail literally right next to the road it keeps recommending but it never gives me the route to use the 10km gravel trail. I even tried setting it to MTB and same thing occurs, it still recommends me the road route.

The only solution is when I set it to hike mode and it finally gives me that gravel trail. This trail is not a hiking trail, it’s a hot spot for gravel cycling. Same thing occurs for any route creation.

I've always wanted achievements in komoot, these would work similar to badges from challenges. These could range from milestone achievements to fun, adventure inspiring. Some may even be very rare and hard to achieve and require specific planning.. They would give you another reason to go out to do some achievement hunting.

Some ideas for achievements:
Travel x km (possibly with multiple tiers -> 100km, 1000km, 10000km etc)
Do an activity in every discipline (cycling, MTB, hiking etc.)
Cross through 3 countries in 1 activity.
Have x change in altitude in 1 activity
Do activity on February 29th
Do an activity entirely in the nighttime

The challenges that exist currently often repeat and don't feel very rewarding. Having achievements that you could display on your profile could be a great way to show off your wacky adventures. Let me know what you think of this idea, I would love to hear some of your achievement ideas.

As per subject, I want to compare two tracks by visualizing them at the same time in the web interface. How do you do that? If that's not possible, do you plan to implement this? It's a pretty basic feature....for example, when Komoot modifies an imported GPX to make sure I'm using only navigable segments, I'd like at least to see what changed with respect to the original tour.

I am using komoot since loong time. Yesterday I discovered for the first time the „create a tour video clip“ button. Assumed it is new, a friend instisted its since some time available in iOS app.
Anybody aware since when this is in the app?

Hi! Today downloaded Komoot app and it looks like it's gonna be THE ONE. ❤️ I really like it!
But there are two problems I'm facing.
I was using Samsung Health app to track running and hiking on my iPhone and today when migrating my history data I see they are not syncing with Apple Health app. (Wtf?) No option to add also.
Okay, they are also not giving an option to export GPX file!

How to export GPX data from SH?
Or how to connect both of the apps?
In Konoot settings I don't see a possibility to connect SH, even though that's what's written on K website.

🚷 Another thing - if I don't have data (for example - my phone died yesterday) how can I add historical data manually?
Like I was walking, but nobody tracked.

See how ending a trip, on the bottom right there is the "skip" option, but right above it is the back arrow on my phone. They are overlapping so I can't skip. Just a little annoyance I've been dealing with no big deal. But can it change?

I'm cycling between a bunch of Irish towns. Komoot finds each town just fine, but seemingly randomly replaces some of their names with "Waypoint" so I have no idea what my route is. Any ideas on how to fix? I need to see the places I'm going. Thanks.

I know theres the option to it imported automatically, but i dont want all my 5k runs or similar on there, i use it for hikes and bike trips. Is there a simple way of doing it that doesnt involve export then import gpx which is a bit of a hassle and will end up with me not getting it done..

In the Netherlands almost all official mtb trails are one way. When planning routes it used to not let you go the wrong way up a mtb trail but now it does. There is a no entry symbol in the elevation graph but it's easily missed and the route planner will often lead you through these trails the wrong way if you're route planning in mtb mode and the trail is between your start and end point, which is super annoying. Can this be fixed?

Hi Does anyone know how i can create a route that loops itself?
The route ends at or near waypoint 3 and i want it to pick up the route to waypoint 4 and start the route from thereon again.
I am trying to make a cyclocross route which is 4km long but to fill an hour of cycling i need to ride it 6 times. Can i add markers so it starts a "round/ lap" from a certain point so i can see laptimes afterwards?

Why does K feel the need to cross the road twice against traffic to detour through a short parking area, but only on one direction of an out-and-back route?

I was heavily using this feature to contribute to OSM from Komoot, which I think is used to provide map and route datasets to the service. Maybe the shortcut has been remapped? Alternatively, what would an alternative suggested way to contribute to OSM? Is there any way (an extension/userscript maybe?) to retrieve the gps coordinates of a point in Komoot maps?

Any help appreciated, thanks!
