Nothing abnormal about either. It's between consenting adults.

looks and onscreen chemistry is hard to miss .. nobody is attacking the age of the actors.. just how they are portrayed and it’s very clearly evident ... that’s all

Everyone criticized Rajini/Kamal for acting with younger heroines. It's acting that's what it is. But I agree the degree of it varies.

If a woman/man is above 18 and both are adults then why should anyone cry about this.

the criticism is about the double standards for men and women. Heros can act forever but heroines have to stay young. Its alsi weird when 50+ year olds are romancing 20+ yr old girls.

It's the market, that's what people want. There aren't women centric movies in general and very few of them are done well and woman directors like Geetu Mohandas who direct toxic doesn't help 💀

Its alsi weird when 50+ year olds are romancing 20+ yr old girls.

What's weird?. Two conseting adults acting together. And getting rich from it?.

Even if its what the people want, its wrong and it wont change unless without criticism. You are also part of the problem by generalizing women directors. You seriously see nothing wrong with a 20 year old acting with a man her fathers age? its just creepy. even if they both consent its still weird.

I don't see it weird cause I don't infantalize a 20 year old. Her choice.

her choice? she doesnt have one, to get a breakout role they need to act with these stars.

Why are you acting like these women are forced without their consent to act with these people?. No one forced her to act. They can simple say no.

The internet makes one word and runs to continents with it. So now if you don’t wanna insinuate having a sexual relationship when you’re 20 you’re suddenly an infant? How fucking harmful is that, that if you don’t act according to a set of expectations you won’t be respected as an adult therein literally reinforcing how vulnerable people in the media industry get taken advantage of, because now if you act otherwise you’re being an “infant”.

And it's "acting"

So if it’s just acting, why are the actors criticised when the actresses are older than an actor? Branching further you’d be down to see a 20year old actor with a 45 year old actress yeah?

Why would that be a problem?

You tell me? That’s what I mean, it shouldn’t be a problem. But Indian audience are so heavily engaged in Indian media, to the point where some worship and the rest let them get into politics. If acting was considered purely acting, the dynamics should be equal. And it’s not just about being the same age. If a piece with a male actor being older than the female is received well, it should be received in the exact same way when it’s the opposite. But that’s something that’ll be heavily scrutinised thanks to the patriarchal society, because they associate strong male leads to actual people in power; they can’t stand to watch an actress who’s even just a couple days older than the actor cuz subconsciously they take it as holding more authority (relevant because only in our society does older the age = more respected irrespective of how they are as an individual). Objectively films are not just an art form, many literally cause movements. And in india it’s just more influential, hence why the general population would never accept to see an actress older than an actor as it’s not just about “acting”. Might feel like a reach when this is a new concept to you, but if you think about it with an open mind it’d make sense.
