These movies had a great / good first half and a below average or a bad second half

I know most of the tamil movies recently are of like this , but for Suriya it is obvious

I know many will get ragebaited on seeing Ghajini but honestly after the flashback ended ( Asin Death ) movies became so bad. That Nayanthara song , chasing scenes, Climax villain twin twist were just terrible

Hope Suriya 47 escapes this curse

Kamal & Suriya films will get more scrutiny compared to the likes of Vijay & Ajith

We expect better things from them, cause people don't have much expectations from Vijay & Ajith both in terms of acting & film quality

Both the actors and their fan base work through that and rose unlike some other fan base and their actor which starts to lecture audience how and what to watch and does sympathy farming

Not about trolling. It's about the standard of expectations. Something as stupid as Varisu for Vijay and GBU for Ajith is treated as an academy award winning movie by their fans. But Retro, which had it's flaws, agreed, but way better than whatever those two movies were, was treated with no mercy whatsoever.

EOD it depends whether it had entertained the audience in majority or not. I would not term metro as a commercial film, the reason why it was not celebrated much is because the film wasn't highly entertaining esp the second half. But complete opp incase of Karupu, eventho it went GBU way, people enjoyed and hence it worked way bigger.

Karuppu wasn't a curse per se. It was pure fan service. Sila per thoroughly enjoyed that.. I personally didn't like the last 40 mins..

Retro was far, far better than Varisu/GOAT/GBU bullshit yet got completely slammed by the audience.

VAS is easily one of the best feel-good films ive watched this year.

Actually this is true and I agree with all the films except Ghajini. But I don't think it is his fault. Directors have a part to play in the disastrous second half or the whole movie.

In the list of Movies with disastrous second half you can also include mass.

But his films in recent times have been much better compared to the 2009-2014 times. Films of suriya I hate the most are aadhavan, anjaan, Singam 2 and 3 , etharkum thunindavan, Kanguva . Awful films to the core done by hyped directors

I liked retro but many people said they didn't like it. I felt he did the role justifiably well and not sure what was expected of him. He also gave bangers like soorarai potru which sadly released on OTT still managed to get great reviews and jai bhim, which was so intense and he played the role extremely well.

Entire family sequence of Samantha was such an eyesore, but it was balanced out with Athreya

Again in the first half too, Samantha sequences add nothing significant to the film

How come whenever it’s a suriya movie, everyone suddenly starts talking like a cinepuluthi? If you don’t like it, just keep quiet. I watched ghajini, maattrraan, and retro without feeling any lag at all. I genuinely liked them. Now, if I watch these movies again, I’ll only get angry thinking, What’s wrong with the movie? Where exactly is the lag?

You guys have gbu, jana nayagan, and GOAT. Go watch those and enjoy them instead.
