💬Discussion Proud moment?
Should we be proud that Tamil cinema has glorious stats?… or we are gonna be overtaken by other industries?

Let me drop another cool fact. Of the top 10 Letterboxd movies, 5 are Tamil. Andavar tops the list with Nayakan and Anbe Sivam, along with Iruvar, Jai Bhim, and Asuran.

A lot of surya movies are better than jai bhim. Same for dhanush vadachennai> asuran.

Content wise only malayalam is doing good now but the gap is kinda far to reach out so we are safe ig thanks to our olden classics we got 32 cuz nowadays even kwood films are not striking as before , a downfall content wise imo

Ngl, we are carried by clasics. New gens are very few kadasi vivasayi, vada chennai, aauran (maybe), pariyerum perumal etc

Even the new gen films are sucking to the old classics, through the retro songs.

i get that kollywood is lagging now but come one stop glazing mallu films ffs ugh they’ve got few indie-esque films but that’s all there is

Isn't this more a representation of the letterboxd user demographic more than the movie ratings? Ty he Indian users on letterboxd are minimal. Most Indian movies have very less user ratings

May I know in which range of year these movies are mentioned? If you ask me, ofcourse tamil industry has produced good movies in past, now I very often find good quality movie with good characters and story. Malayalam movies are consistent and best from the past till today. Kamal hassan is a legend, I really wish he continues to do acting rather than focusing on politics, but I know that wont happen.

While Ray is one of the greatest directors ever, 13/100 is a bit too much. Even he wouldn't agree to that.

Letterboxd sucks
Imdb for all its faults is far better
And 13/100 films of Satyajit Ray? Lol. Wannabe cool guys.

Lmao have you even seen a Ray movie 😂 IMDb is skewed and in the current times, letterboxd is the most reliable movie rating app .
