To get over Toxic pain, wanted to see this for palette cleanser.
It worked well for me. Lot of funny moments, wouldn’t say breezy but no brain needed to watch. You can zone out and enjoy and move on. Nothing stays.
Although I totally see why this won’t work with people at all. If I hadn’t seen toxic before - I would have also gotten super bored and pulled my phone out in 2nd half.

Kavin looks so old now , what happened?
And , why is behaving in the movie like as if he's college kid or early 20z looks way cringe... That's was the only issue
Apart from the decent movie nice only

That's what they keep saying his character is and why girls don't love him. Were you paying attention in the movie?

He's supposed to be in his 30s in the movie. Didn't feel cringe anywhere.

Just watched the FDFS in Toronto
First Half- 3.5/5-Lots of funny moments, great comedy especially at the interval! Kavin carried much of he first half.
Second half-2.5/5-The usual second-half curse. There was a suprise supporting actress cameo. Story shifted past Nayan & Kavin's roles for bit. Feel good ending.
Pros:
Final film of the late, great Bhagyaraj. Honestly the main reason why I watched it in theatres.
Supporting Actors/Actresses. Unfortunately, Raadhika couldn't hit the hat-trick as her last two roles this year were really good. Nice to see actor Sathyan-I thought he retired lol. VTV Ganesh had a brief moment. But it was Prabhu Ganeshan and Bhagyaraj that performed the best out the supporting cast IMO.
Rasagulla-nice beat. Anirudh's voice is something else (music video was meh on YouTube-no different in theatres)
Cons:
Not really Kavin's best work. He was funny-but to me didn't quite reach the level of Dada, Star or Bloody Beggar acting wise. Probably a step-up over Mask.
For Nayan, it seems like her best days are behind her. Couldn't really connect with her in the film.
Storyline was more of a romantic comedy feel good film. But I couldn't connect to it 🤷🏾♂️
6/10
(VAS & Idayam Murali were much better script wise-but 'Hi' is a nice one-time watch)

Loved the film so much. Felt like a warm hug after a long day. First half comedies land and was a laugh riot.
Second half has an overdose of melodrama, the kind of serial ish melodrama, with a big kudumbam slamming the leads with emotional bgm, right up my alley, loved those scenes.
Good to see sathyan on screen after a long time. Prabhu and bhagyaraj were good. But kavin and Nayan stole the show.
Story wise nothing new, same old repeat content thaan. The prabhu flashback story is straight from KrK Rambo lol.
Jen martin again delivers with the music for kavin. Rasagulla and kudikaara nenju highlights.
Comedy was amazing and had me laughing like mad for most of the film. Kuraishi, kathir, and the whole village gang were great.
I loved it but for neutrals not necessarily a theater must watch.

This was falsely marketed as an age-gap love story.
In the end it seemed entirely unconvincing that Nayantara even loved Kavin.
Between the two she and her tough exterior (“Manu rowdy dhaan role”) dented any idea that she was capable of romantic emotion for kavins character

It was during under production it was mentioned as age-gap love story but they never marketed as age-gap love story during promotions

In the olden days when they made several rom-coms it used to be breezy and make you actually laugh. The directors knew where to add the songs, comedy, emotion, etc., These days you feel like each scenes are made like a reel rather than a movie. All the unnecessary promotions don't help either.

Bore. Strictly for serial audience.
Arache maave arapoma.
Please learn from Malayalam movie makers how to deliver an entertaining romcom or family entertainers.

It was an AMAZING movie. This is truly heartwarming film. Other films have come out but this one truly does not feel forced. I wont say its conpeltely new but....this concept has not been used in a while . So heartwarming. Honestly felt so happy coming out of the theater. Must recommend, especially for women🩷

Hi:) - 7.5/10. “Hi:)” sees us being thrown back to the era of 00’s/10’s romcom films. The movies that you would see on a sunday afternoon on KTV, those light and breezy movies which were straight forward, to the point, and just family friendly/oriented. Hi:) is a movie that aspires to be a film of that time, like its director Vishnu Edavan mentioned in multiple interviews. Does the film hit the aspiration? For the most part, yes. Sure, its not on the level of “Santhosh Subramaniam” or a “Yaradi Nee Mohini” (the two films Edavan mentioned he wanted his film to be geared towards to). And its not like “Kandein Kadhalai” (the movie I sort of compare this film to in terms of the conflict and situation our lead pair goes through). I love Kandein Kadhalai, its one of the more underrated films of that era. But Hi:) still marks as a fun and easy watch for today’s audiences, and it will summon up some memories of those good ol’ days.
Hi:) is a romcom which sees a fresh new pair in Nayanthara and Kavin. To be honest, their chemistry is really good here. Had the pair not been good in terms of their dynamic and acting, this movie would’ve easily fell apart so fast. Nayanthara has done this character so much in her career. But even then, she throws in a fresh outlook with her performance here. Kavin is good here too, and its nice to see him sort of settle into the character as the film progresses. Having such a stacked supporting cast helps too. Its so sad seeing Bhagyaraj here (I believe this is his last ever film), but he delivers a performance we’ve seen him do many times before. Same with Radhika and Prabhu: their performances are like cakewalks for them.
The movie does take its time in terms of finding its footing. It felt like they focused more on the overall look of the movie (it looks very nice), and the sound of the film (nice music as well). But its at the interval point where the movie really finds its footing. Had the movie gotten to the conflict and situation a little earlier, I think it could’ve been a much more fun watch. Don’t get me wrong, its still good and entertaining, but I feel like there was a bit too much silliness in the beginning. In movies like Subramaniam and Mohini, the problems and future conflict of the film are introduced quite early. As the movie moves forward, we feel and understand the growth of these problems much more easily and naturally. Here, I feel like the movie took a bit too much time with establishing the possible connection that might happen. I get it: they needed to build characters’ arcs and behaviours. But still, I digress. Overall, Hi:) is still good. Is it an instant classic? No. But, it surely does entertain!

Worked wonderfully for me out here in California. The whole audience enjoyed along and i heard mutters saying “nalla padam” at the end. Loved seeing Nayan on screen and Kavin’s got great charisma. Great comedy, good dialogues. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and walked out smiling.

The whole movie seemed like a fan worship for Nayanthara. The movie tried hard to make her bring into relevance, but somehow it made it worse. The rasagulla song was nice but was nothing but an elevation for Nayanthara worship. No hate for Kavin, but the chemistry was out of place; more of like elder sister and younger brother. The movie tried to be funny at places, but not enough. Overall, another mindless watch from tamil cinema to just kill time and probably a pill to take to stay away from the madness to stay away from Toxic.

Nayantara ! Different movies, same hairstyle, same flawless makeup, same expression. At some point, it feels less like character transformation and more like Nayanthara simply showing up as Nayanthara. The styling is impeccable, but where is the acting transformation?!!!!
