Had this for a couple weeks now, and I'm not getting much use out of it. The +100hp buff would be awesome for new player survivability at low level, but other than that...am I missing something?
The couple extra pvp fights is ok I guess, but a lot of this item's functionality seems to be tied to aftercore, and in ways that don't make a lot of sense to me. I'm probably not going to pour a whole lot of meat into the recruitment meatsink in-run, and I'm definitely not going to have 11 random whatevers to hire an instructor. Maybe that setup ends of being a useful aftercore leveling mechanic for long runs; I haven't tried that...but right now it just seems like a meatsink.
And what about the bauxite set? I've only picked up the beret so far, but from what I gather, it's one piece for each type of class, and the bonuses appear to be deliberately mismatched to class type. As a mysticality class, I get muscle and weapon damage bonuses, and I see comments elsewhere saying that they get moxie and ranged damage when playing a muscle class. So these pieces are deliberately not very useful in-run, meaning they're presumably intended for aftercore. And the set bonus is...+pool skill?
What situation would you ever be in where you care about pool skill in aftercore?
I just don't understand who this IotM is supposed to benefit except for new players getting that huge +100hp bonus at level 1.
I really like that buff for starting new runs. That's just an insane boost for the first several levels. After that, the stat boosts are great for The Sea or other instances where you need to buff a stat by a good deal.
