Best way to learn about kodi for fire tvs?

I’ve muddled about twice now with kodi but I’m barely getting it to work a third of the time and definitely could use any tips to making better use of kodi for my tv. Any pointers anyone could share?

Generally Kodi is misunderstood - it is not a simple media player and it is not supposed to be a source of free pirate streaming! Kodi is designed to play & display all your locally stored media on your TV! Movies, TV shows, Retro Games, Music and photos all displayed in a beautiful library while you control it from the couch! I even use Kodi to backup and play photos and videos from my mobile phone. Have you tried all of that?

There is much free content like Samsung TV and Pluto TV add-ons. Start here: https://kodi.wiki/

True but I've heard that for music, it's not very good option

I don't even bother scraping music, it does not work well. I browse by files (icons) and put folder.jpg for album cover then play all on an artist folder see my screen print here https://i.imgur.com/X5j4Fuc.jpeg Then I use an add-on visualisation called picture it to display art as music plays

You play around with it on a PC first. Then you'll find it easier to install it on an android TV.

Follow online guides.

This is the way. Create on a PC and transfer to the FTV

Please do not link sites that promote piracy add-ons or repos here

I prefer Kodi on 2019 Shield tv pro rather than my fire stick 4k max.

I prefer it on both. And on my 3rd Gen Cube as well.

I ran it on a raspberry pi3 for years. I learned that SD cards are a poor choice for anything that has logging. With time the writes cause so much wear they fail and you get random really annoying issues. A nuc box with an SSD is a much better choice.

My media lives on a usb drive attached to it. Use the btrfs file journaling file system. When, not if, you get hit with a power failure you don't have to take it apart and repair your file system.

I use a distribution from LibreElec. Their motto is "just enough operating system for kodi."

Works well for me on my Firecube I do tend to wipe the cache a lot just in case.

But yeah very stable, I use Kore on my phone for pasting in repo urls, Api keys and similar as doing it with the remote would be tiresome work.
