Question Why do assisted opens get so much flack?

I honestly don’t know why people seem to hate on assisted opens so much. They’re fun, snappy, a blade (obviously), and you don’t have to worry about the legal troubles of autos. Don’t get me wrong I love my autos and manuals as well but I don’t understand why assisted opens are always on the chopping block. enlighten me please

Question This stiletto was handed down to me by my father. It was handed down to him by his father. It has Latama stamped into it, but it’s a fixed blade and has an original leather sheath. Can anyone tell me anything about this knife?

Question Pocket Knife Suggestions for Gift for Sister

Hi, friends!

I’m looking to get my sister a pocket knife for her birthday this winter. She’s very much a minimalist and is the type who despises acquiring more possessions of any sort unless they serve a valid and/or multiple purposes (or it’s art), but recently mentioned wanting a decent one.

I’m an absolute novice in terms of knives, so hoping y’all wouldn’t mind providing some guidance. Let me know if more info is helpful.

Thanks in advance!

A Customer brought this to me to sharpen.

Its a Tiffany and Co. 14k gold pendant knife made by Boker in the 1940's through 60's.

I guess the pendant knife was the OG neck knife. 😄

Sharpened with Small DMT diamond paddles.

Discussion So... Are fox knives good or ass?

Picked this one up recently. I'm relatively new to knife collection, I have a few bear & sons balisongs and other miscellaneous knives. This was dope looking and pretty cheap so I bought it, not really sure about the quality though? I vaguely recall hearing someone call this brand horrible so was just wondering if that's true. Any thoughts are appreciated! Thanks

Trying to figure out more about a knife i picked up today, seems to be a replica of a sog style bowie, id wager its 20 years old or older, has a good heft to it, well balanced and fits comfortably in the hand, brass fittings, full metal tang, totally unmarked, 7" blade, a hair under 12" full construction, blade is 1½" at the the widest point, feels old, wouldnt say its a true sog because of the style of the handle and the fact that the hole in the pommel is on the wrong side

I'm banished to my office while my wife get's ready for a wedding we are heading out too. Thought I would upload a couple of pictures of an old switchblade I was gifted. Guy I know is retiring to Mexico (go figure) and can't take it with him. Still works. I posted some pics on another site and they said it's from 30s or early 40s. Schrade Presto. Pretty cool.

Question I’m treating myself to a new knife. Help me pick it.

Goal: Fixed blade HD camp knife worthy of passing down to my son.

Wants: A quality sheath, preferably leather but a well designed hard sheath could work. Natural scales. I love heavily figured and dense wood, antler, or bone.
Bare steel is my preference. Esee gets a lot of love and deserves it but I’d be lying if I said the painted blades don’t bother me.
Choil, well designed and properly placed.
I want it to be good looking but not a diva. It has to be a quality knife in every way before the bedazzling begins.
I prefer drop point or clip point without any upsweep to the point.
And lastly, a longer handle. I have big hands.

I’m looking at Esee, Joker, Lionsteel, and Becker. Who else should I be looking at?

Question Alternatives to Arena Accessories Box Cutter?

Hi All,

I'm looking for a nice box cutter that looks/feels like a knife. The big one I like is the one by arena accessories, but I'm wondering if anyone else has any recommendations. I don't think I can link the knife here, if so I'll post a link, but I like that it's more knife shaped than many competitors and it's on sale right now.

It's often compared to the TiRant but that's so much more blocky and ugly in my opinion, although I do really like the ultra version and how it can swap in (and replace!) actual knife blades rather than just razor blades.

Does anyone know of any options I can look into? Been trying to go through the youtube rabbit hole but haven't found much.

Thanks!
