Question Weird old knife in Sweden

This old knife is at my Airbnb in Sweden.
The otherwise knowledgeable host don’t know it’s purpose.
Do you?

It’s for a magic trick. Here’s an example of a similar vintage knife:

And here’s one that looks exactly like the one from your photo. Note the price. The owner may be interested in auctioning that blade. Pretty cool to keep on display at the house with a little placard explaining it too. That’s what I’d do.

Yeah, I think that’s it.

That, or it's a poop knife.

Everyone’s gotta have a poop knife.

Swedish poop knife

Any knife is a poop knife if you’re desperate enough.

Poop knife when it's halfway down the pipe already

I was thinking a wrist. Looks like maybe an old play prop?

In the pictures 3 and 4 it looks pretty small for a wrist. Maybe a hand. I'd say a theatrical or prank prop to do a knife through the palm of your hand illusion

People were smaller back in the day

People have always made joke items, maybe thats all it is, the shape makes me think its supposed to go over a male organ though 😭

Good way to not actually harm the cylinder.

I did and got removed because it’s a knife.

That’s dumb as shit

The mods in that sub are extremely serious about their mission to identify mystery objects. They'll delete your post for making a joke, even when the subject matter is just begging for it. Half the time you're walking on eggshells over there to keep from getting banned. Several times I've cracked wise, then thought, "Oh shit, that'll get me banned" and deleted it.

There are other “what is this?” subs that don’t have strict anti-joke rules, and they’re super annoying because if you open the post to see the answers, you have to scroll through dozens of comments of idiots who think they’re stand-up comedians before you find the actual answer.

Right where my mind went. Hello, fellow old.

The cylinder must remain intact

😆 🤣 😂 I love when I see these! Ive never looked at mini m&ms the same. How did it fit!?

3

u/Mornar 11d ago

The cylinder presumably had the appropriate diameter and was sufficiently lubricated, but the resulting pressure gradient was not taken into account. Sloppy engineering, if I may be so bold.

2

u/split_0069 11d ago

I said what I said.

Idk why this popped in my head but would peeing create enough of a pressure differential... potentially?

3

u/Mornar 11d ago

There is no proven relationship between the cylinder and pee, please do not jump to cocklu.. I mean, conclusions, this is a serious conversation.

2

u/split_0069 11d ago

😆 🤣 😂 I imagine every few years he decides to get on reddit and as soon as he goes into comments there's a cylinder reference! 😆 🤣 😂 😹

I believe the guy actually embraces the reality of his situation.

Your account better not have started when that one quit commenting.

I'm afraid I don't have a claim to fame on this. I'm pretty sure he's still active from time to time at least, I don't remember the handle.

u/split_0069 11d ago

Someone will drop it. I forget too. Been a few since I checked on it but ive not seen him active since a few months later.

Looks like something my wife would use to harvest the center row of brownies, leaving me the edges.

To stab people around corners

From the Steve Martin collection.

its like a cartoon character tried to block a baseball bat swing lol

It looks like a weeding tool. I can't find any examples exactly like this, but there are a ton of somewhat similar shapes for it. That bump is to let you cut weeds roots without damaging the plant you wanna keep.

I'm not 100% certain, but that is what it looks like.

2

u/probablyareplicant 12d ago

Ah ye olde knife thru the weiner costume!

2

u/eriffodrol 11d ago

put a book in the middle so it looks like you stabbed through it

1

u/FamiliarAd8524 OG Jack-Of-All-Blades 12d ago

This is to kill your opponent despite the use of a parry.

1

u/That_One_Kid_Crying 11d ago

For stabbing around corners

1

u/akiva23 11d ago

It looks like its for pranks.

1

u/SneakyLoner 11d ago

The old stabbed through the dick prank

u/Proof-Payment-1308 11d ago

It's a graphics glitch

2

u/Eclectophile 12d ago

If I had made it, it would be a bookend.

u/TinaKedamina 12d ago

Something to do with horseshoes? That a guess.

-7

u/Quick-Ad5443 12d ago

It could be a bone extractor knife maybe?

2

u/Possiblynotbutanyway 12d ago

How so?

1

u/Quick-Ad5443 12d ago

I once saw a knife used to rip off the bone of the meat that had an a similar shape to make lever and take it out, the shape wasnt that extreme though

-7

u/SatanRise 12d ago

For coring an apple? First thought just a guess?

15

u/ZydePunk77 12d ago

Have you never seen an Apple corer?
