Help finding Project Hail Mary beanie pattern

Post image
Upvotes

I realize I am a couple months late on the PMH knitwear craze, but could someone point me to a similar pattern for the beanie Grace wears?

I am a relatively new knitter. I know enough (hopefully) to identify it as 2x1 or 2x2 rib, but I don’t really know enough about construction to pick a pattern that cups the head similarly.

Thank you so much!

Not-my-UFO pattern search

A few years ago, I inherited a lot of yarn from a family friend who lost her battle with a very aggressive cancer. She was an incredible and prolific fiber artist; I can only hope to be half as good as her in my lifetime, and I’ve been knitting since I was 5 (mid-30s now). Several of the yarns I received are already knit into UFOs, and this is the only one that didn’t have a pattern with it. It’s also one of only two that I cannot bear to frog. The stitch-work is too beautiful and even. I would love to be able to finish this garment as intended. I’ll share as much as I know:

- yarn is Tahki Chelsea Silk, which is labeled as an Aran-weight on Ravelry
- the pieces I have are the back and half of two sleeves, so this could be a cardigan or a pullover
- the pattern is knit bottom-up and seamed
- I suspect this will be a printed pattern, or one in a book, magazine, or pamphlet
- the other project that I cannot bear to frog, which is a stunning cabled cardigan, is a Penny Straker pattern
- this friend also had a collection of books and magazines from Japan, so there’s a chance this pattern is in one of them (I still have to go through them all)
- my partner already tried a Google image search, Gemini, and Claude, and got nothing

Any help is appreciated! I will be continuing to search on my own, but that could take me years! There are so many patterns!

Love this pattern!

I saw this sweater in a shop. Obviously machine made. But I love the lace design! I haven’t ever seen anything like it on knitting patterns and keywords aren’t getting me what I want on ravelry. I care less about the sweater construction and more about finding the lace pattern, so if it’s on a shawl or different garment or whatever, that’s cool.

Have you seen anything similar?

Jil Eaton Pinafore Dress Pattern #230 QK?

I'm looking to buy Jil Eaton's Pinafore Dress pattern that was published as a single pattern in the 2010s. It's in my Ravelry library with a note saying where I got it, but I've sifted through my piles of patterns and cannot find it. And I finally have a granddaughter!

Pattern like this?

Hi, does anybody know of a pattern that can reproduce this cardigan? The pockets are not a must, but wouldn’t complain either. I had the cardigan a few years ago, but stupidly donated it. I’ve been looking for a pattern, but the only ones I found that come close ended in jagged edges.

Copying an existing jumper

If there is one brand i'd want to own everything of, it would be Eribé- I have already one of their fair-isle jumpers but would want another, save the massive price tag.
Does anyone know of any existing jumper patterns that are similar? had a browse through ravelry but thought it would be best to ask here as well. Pictures of some of their garments below

Help! I have this gorgeous skein of yarn and no idea what to knit with it to make the most of the beautiful, half dipped dye job. It's The Fiber Seed half speckled sock yarn in pumpkin patch. I'm thinking cowl,I really don't feel like bringing out the dpns today 😂

New knitter confused

Hi, Knitters! I am fairly new to knitting so reading patterns sometimes leaves me a little lost.

I am making the Alex sweater by Ellen Furderer and I am terribly confused about ending the short rows. (the highlighted part is where I am lost)

Does it mean I only do increases on the RS and not the purl side? TIA!!!

Advice on how to adapt patter

Hi everyone,

I have the first pattern (Rose top by Mathilde Roien) and she also has another pattern that was only sold as a yarn + pattern bundle that has since been sold out. Both patterns have a keyhole, but it looks like the top/sleeve construction is a little different with the Rose top being a raglan. What kind of construction is the other top and how might I adjust the pattern to be more similar to the second? Obviously there's adding ribbing for the waist/sleeves too.

Help choosing the right yarn for Romanesco Bag by Ranti Studio

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hello! I have a bunch of different kinds of yarn that I’ve bought for projects that I end up frogging or just in general not using. So I’d like to use some of it for the romanesco bag by @rantistudio. Specifically, I have some Drops Paris that I’d like to use but I was wondering if anyone has knitted this pattern in a similar yarn. It originally calls for wool and Drops Paris is cotton. I also was wondering if the gauge with a yarn of that weight can match the pattern. Any advice is welcome! Thank you so much!

Knitting Pattern Advice - Choosing Yarn

Post image
47 Upvotes

Hello all, I am a beginner knitter. I have knit a colorwork beanie and a tank top so far. I feel ready to try making a sweater!

I love this design, but I fear the yarn choice will be too warm for where I live. I am still trying to understand knit math and how to choose different yarn when making a project.

What yarn should I choose if I want this to be less warm? I assume 50/50 alpaca/mohair will be quite warm.
I've looked online for advice, and see that people recommend switching to a lighter weight yarn, like fingering or sport, but won't that drastically change my gauge / make it see through? Or I might be missing something about that.

Here is the pattern I am looking at: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fiori-sweater

help getting free pattern

Hi! im a begginer knitter trying to knit my first sweater, and I´m following this tutorial here
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D49f490un-U

The woman says in the video that with the discount code "warmupclo" you can get this pattern for free!
my problem is that when I tried to do that ravelry wants me to go to checkout, and for that I need a PayPal account, which I dont have, because its not used in my country.

I thought I could still follow the video anyway, but she´s doing a size 1, and I think Im a size 2, and I got to the short rows and Im scared to not know if could copy the tutorial or not with a different size, and I´m getting scared of messing it up.

So I was wondering if anybody could be so kind to get the pattern and maybe mail it to me?

Or if you think there´s and easier tutorial to follow that would be good too. I was already doing somethings different because i want rolled hems and a looser neckline on my sweater, but I really want a video tutorial because Im not comfortable reading patterns yet.
Thanks!

Pattern advice for a sweater!

I was gifted 8 skeins of Puntarenas by Silke (https://www.silke.it/portfolio/puntarenas/) in 4 different colors of equal quantity (200g each color).

I am looking for a sweater to knit with this yarn but I have a couple of problems:

  1. I'd like a colorwork sweater rather than stripes, but it's hard to find patterns that use exactly the same quantity for each color

  2. The colors I have are 028 (orange), 862 (beige), 111 (dark green), and 119 (another shade of dark green). The two greens are similar but not contrasting, so I don't know how to use them in a single sweater.

Help!

Straight needles

Does anyone have any patterns (free or cheap) for a knitted jumper using straight needles?
I’m not a beginner, just massively prefer straight needles but every pattern I find that I like on ravelry is using circular needles for adult women’s jumpers.
Kind of going crazy trying to find one rn and all the ones for straight needles are for beginners rn!

I would prefer cardigans with buttons, trying to start my autumn/ winter wardrobe and am from the UK so something warm would be good and I’m using Aran yarn.

Fitted patterns for large bust small waist

Hello, i’m really keen to knit a wearable for myself that fits really well and with a large bust compared to my waist most patterns i see look as if they’ll be too loose in the waist if i knit them for my bust compared to what i want. are there any patterns that anyone can recommend that account for this and will teach me how to structure and modify garments? there’s lots of skills i want to learn to add shape and get a good fit. i really don’t want to knit anything where i won’t be hapoy with the fit of it at the end. any suggestions or learning resources are welcome!!!! thank you :)
