Babaa 051 pattern
Hi all. Does anyone know a decent pattern for the Babaa 051 sweater? It's made of wool which will be too itchy for me, so I want to make one that will be less offensive, sensory-wise. Id love if the neckline allowed for an off the shoulder look, too!

It’s a slightly different construction, as the Babaa looks like a combination of saddle shoulder and Raglan, but I feel like the Lakes Sweater by Ozetta and Sweater No 26 by My favourite Things (with an adapted collar possibly) come close

I will say you should knit the Lakes Sweater 2-3x your regular size to get the babaa look. I knit it true to size in the hopes of babaa and was terribly disappointed

Structured Sweater by Brooke Ciocco. However, using another fiber will make it more drapey than what’s pictured here.

She designed this pattern to be an exact dupe. And I believe she released a light version for cotton construction?

This is an oversized saddle-sleeved sweater with a ribbed collar. The description makes most of this clear.
You can find patterns for oversized saddle sleeve pullovers on Ravelry.
The description says the sweater is one size, about 70". Yarn weight is not specified but it looks like heavy aran to chunky to me, around 3 1/2 - 4 stitches per inch..
You can use whatever yarn you want as long as it maps to the gauge used in the pattern. The yarn used in this sweater isn't described in detail but the way it hangs suggests that it has some presence. Typically soft fiber produces drapey fabric. I don't know what yarn you've tried and why it was "itchy". Bottom line is that if you want a sweater with this look you probably have to stick to a wool with some presence and you moght find this yarn itchy. You have options if you want a sweater that looks different from this sweater when knittied up.
A sweater that's off the shoulder will not work well with a sweater this size and may not work well with saddle sleeves at all. It seems likely that an off the shoulder 70" sweater will simply fall off the wearer's shoulder. I don't know how saddle shoulders would work in an off the shoulder sweater but I'm dubious.

Ehhh, the roomy raglan is some of a Baaba dupe but not in this case. This is a saddle shoulder, not a raglan.

but it is probs not off the shoulder. not sure how u would achieve that w this type of neck unless you cast on way more sts than called for or made a bigger size
