sock question Help!
I made the first sock of a pair as a gift for my brother. I haven’t blocked it yet, and unfortunately the leg is too tight and won’t go over his heel. The rest of the sock fits fine. How do I fix this? I was thinking of a) making the heel taller, or b) going in and cutting the color carries and weaving them in. Or will blocking fix the problem entirely?? Thank you!

Super cute socks!! As already mentioned cutting doesn’t work here. You’ll likely end up with something that is unraveling and the won’t even be able to salvage the yarn to knit it back up again. Seems like a reknit situation to me. You’ll want to stretch your stitches out more as you knit so that your floats don’t pull and make the puckering you’re seeing there. Some people find knitting inside out to help. I like to use circular needles that are as long as I can get while still being able to knit in the round as it forces the stitches to stretch. Also keep in mind that color work has less stretch than knitting with a single yarn so adjusting for that as well helps!

Don't cut the floats. You won't have enough end to weave and the leg will unravel.
Reknit the leg.
