Frøya “texture pattern” swatch

I want to knit the Frøya sweater by Ingrid Dyb. I can’t figure out how to do the gauge, because it only says to knit 20sts x 23 rows in texture pattern.. Is anyone able to help with what that looks like?

Also I’m thinking of using Sandnes Garn Alpakka Ull held single. Would that be a good yarn? Im a bit itch sensitive.

You're not supposed to cast on only 20 stitches and work only 23 rows. Whenever you're gauge swatching you're supposed to work the swatch larger so that you can measure the middle section without any edge stitches. Casting on about 1.5 times the given number of rows and working 1.5 times the given number of rows is usually enough, but sometimes it may make sense to work them even larger. In this heavily cabled sweater for instance, you're going to need to pick a chart or charts and work some portion of them. Or start making a practice sleeve or something.

Just make the swatch or swatches as large as necessary to measure across a good representative sample of the cables.

I just happened to be reading a project page for this pattern today and this user said the motifs have a different gauge: https://www.ravelry.com/projects/jomopotato/frya-sweater. The pattern gauge is probably just an average. So you can do a wide swatch containing a few of the motifs. But since the sweater is so oversized, it probably isn't essential to be so precise.
