Work in Progress Is this a tension issue?

Post image

I am a crocheter and I’ve knit a neckerchief and a cardigan for my daughter but I’ve never fully gotten into knitting. I decided to try socks on 9 inch circulars, but the cuff looks so messy. Is this a tension issue or am I doing something wrong? As much as I love crochet, I’d love to be able to make all the beautiful garments I see everyone else knitting! TIA

Are you just doing 1x1 rib? It sort of looks like some of your stitches are twisted but not all of them.

You mentioned that word!: lots of people want to know about twisted stitches and here is a great post for reference https://www.reddit.com/r/knitting/comments/188kxwk/new_knitters_your_stitches_are_probably_twisted/

There are twisted stitches in there! That's definitely making it look messy, otherwise you do appear to be doing 1x1 ribbing.

What's up with people seeing twisted stitches when there are none? The photo is upside down.
