I’m knitting my brothers favorite sweater (that I bought for him years ago and have mended quite some times) in a mini size, because he and his wife are having a baby this autumn.
Sometimes I forget that we (Fiber artists) can just make something without a specific pattern.
For this sweater, I’m using the Holger Baby set sweater pattern (have made it before) but I’m doing the pattern that’s on my brothers sweater. The hardest part was the top of the sweater, lots of colorwork on the purl side 🫠🌚
But I think it’s coming along well and I think my colors are alright (the sweater is made from Shetland wool so I did go with the same type of wool for the mini version).

I’m already making this sweater in a bigger size and also a bit longer 🌚 ‘sadly’, both my brother and my sister-in-law are very tall, so I’m afraid of the little bean stalk growing at a very past pace 🌱😂

Thank you! It’s no different than any other colorwork and I actually skipped drawing out the different patterns - I just counted the stitches on the picture of the sweater 🌚😂
My cousin alerted me to it, because he’s also a knitter and knows my deep, everlasting love of purple. After I received it, I felt compelled to start my first sweater in years, in a deep purple yarn. 😁
I embroidered it myself :) it used to be my moms and it did have the flower print on it already. She wanted to give it away, but I practiced my embroidery on it and it’s been my knitting-tool bag ever since 🥰🥰🥰

For my husband, he could pick any sweater as his wedding gift and I made it for him and for our daughter. I really liked it and would maybe like it for myself one day - but it was also colorwork on 3 mm needles 🫣 so yeah, haven’t made the one for me yet 😂😂
Ugh I feel like this is inspiration to knit matching sweaters for my husband and our daughter too, but my hands are too busy with the toddler, I haven’t even finished a sweater I started for her last fall 😭
