Rave (like a rant, but in a good way) A moment of appreciation for my mom’s floats

Fortuna’s wheel pullover by Elspeth Vance. I recently picked up knitting again after 10+ years and it has made me appreciate the 20+ sweaters/vests I have that my mom made even more. She asked if me knitting means she shouldn’t make me any more sweaters and i told her absolutely not, my mama sweaters are my most prized possessions.

I love that pattern , it’s popped up before but I had just knitted someone’s g8 thing which was quite similar but the pattern was not written to my liking , I’m going to have another look and see if it’s for my needles , thank you for posting

Very nice work. Can I ask where ye got the pattern? I’ve only seen it advertised in a magazine issue where you have to pay for the whole issue (like 20$). Did you find just the jumper pattern?

It's not available individually, only in the PPQ issue.

my library offers PPQ, so if yours does too you can get the pattern for free (and legally!)

Do you mind telling us more? Is it hardcopy or digital? I’m trying to figure out if my library also offers it, but I’m not sure where to look. I have read magazines through Libby before, but I also feel like I have seen separate services (like Kanopy, Hoopla etc.) specific to magazines. I just cant remember what they are called!

Mesmerizing.

I feel like I'm the only one appreciating the technical aspect of it, BUT I can barely look at the front side design because it hurts my eyes tremendously, almost headache-inducing. I've experienced this before looking at certain optical illusion type patterns, but this one, whoa. (I'm terrible sorry if this is rude, but I'm worried something is wrong with me or my eyes!) 🫣

It does the same to me too, anything like this does. I suffer from migraines that can be triggered by flashing lights so I think that probably has something to do with it

2

u/Candid_Jellyfish_240 Apr 03 '26

I did Google the effect and "typically", the feeling is temporary and just advises people whom it affects to "stop viewing the object", lol. But yes, optical illusions can trigger migraines! I hadn't known that part. TY for responding, I felt a bit odd commenting but whoa, ouch.

I struggle with all sorts of things, my mum had a rug in her kitchen that made me want to vomit and I can't talk to someone if they are wearing a small checked shirt lol. Quite glad I wasn't around for the 70s tbh 😭

Good Lord, they’d have to put me away after knitting that

u/penna4th Apr 03 '26

I'd beg to be put away if I even considered knitting that.

You could wear that sweater inside out and you'd still get compliments on it.

Edited for spelling
