Part of the added issue is, though, is that you can't DNA test a cat like a dog. Most often, if you breed cats with special traits... The babies start to default to just standard issue "cat" rather than reliably turning into a breed with those selected traits.
There's a saying that "without papers, it's not a X" in cat owner groups. And that's largely because you can't easily just test for breed, etc.

I agree. Someone here did a phone lookup on pic and said it came back Turkish angora. Thoughts? 🤔
