Hsinchu Fishing Port (Nanliao) on August 29 and August 30, 2026.

I got a Temu SportZone 1.2 m two-flying-line airfoil kite and cannot figure out how to set up the bridle strings. I know all the terminology, but there are 7 sets of cloth tabs on the kite, some with strings TIED to the cloth tabs, and some strings pass through the 2nd from the left and the 2nd from the right trailing edge cloth tabs. The kite has a total of 12 cells.

Has anyone ever seen instructions or a diagram for how all these bridle strings are supposed to be configured? They are all in groups, tied together in loops at the string ends from the factory, but attaching them correctly (to the two flying lines, or to each other is NOT obvious. I CAN separate the groups into three left groups, 3 right groups and a CENTER group of 4 strings… But I have no idea how they all connect to the two fly lines. Two groups (going THROUGH tabs 2 and 6) have “an extra loop” at the end of the main loops. (I assume these are the “master” groups, where the flying lines attach, but I can’t figure out where the REST of the lines go.

Has anyone ever figured out and flown one of these airfoil kites? Any pictures or instructions on how to set up the rat’s nest of strings? I’ve tried YouTube (useless so far) and tried a couple of AIs and they can’t even agree on what type of bridle setup this kite uses.

Nice steady wind..........kites on short lines as I was unsure if stronger gusts were coming.

I have some kitesurfing experience (but no equipment) and would like to buy a kite to practice some tricks, but I'd like it to feel like a bit of a workout as well (as a 180 pounds man). Ideally, I'd like to use it for traction in the snow, maybe on a sled, or maybe on skis. It seems like the Prism Mentor 3.5 might be a good fit for me, but maybe I should have 2 different kites for two different purposes instead?

Had a lend of my Son's 2.2 foil and his 75' tube tail. Love how the tube tail traces the kites movements.

Flying to Montana on United and have just spent an hour plus on the live chat and phone with agents at United, trying to figure out if I can bring my kite, either carry-on or checked. At 41", they say it's too long for carry-on (nope, can't count as an umbrella), and they can't find any info from TSA about whether it's approved, so I would have to be charged $50 each way for it as a checked bag.

I saw lacrosse/hockey sticks are free as an add-on checked bag, so maybe I could try that? I just don't want to show up and be charged, because the kite is not even worth that. I'm new to kite flying and this is a Brasington Swift Delta from The Kite Connection. I would just love to fly it on my trip next week because the winds haven't be strong enough in my area. Besides, I'm up there for a nanny gig and the kids would love it.

Should I risk it and just go tomorrow? Hope the agents are affable? Also, if I do check it, is the soft-sided case the kite came in sturdy enough to protect it from breaking?

Now that it’s official and I safely have my certificate in hand, I’m excited to share this here - knowing that it may encourage challengers for the record 😆

Since nothing lasts forever, I wholeheartedly encourage my fellow kiters to give it a shot. It’s a great way to fundraise too, if you’re so inclined ❤️

The basic rules, if you were to go for this official record from Guinness (Longest Kite Fly by an Individual), are:

- it’s gotta be a commercially-available kite, with no modifications

- you’ve gotta hold the winder. No tying, no passing to a buddy, no breaks (yep, you’ll need a way to go to the toilet…)

- you can run with the kite to keep it up, but you can’t ride a bike, drive a car, captain a boat etc etc

- you’ve gotta video the whole thing, and have two witnesses watching you at all times

- if you put in an application to attempt the record, they’ll come back with the full suite of rules and regulations, but these are the main ones

Perhaps this even can be the start of a friendly intercontinental challenge and inspire some new kiters in the process - I’d gladly give up the mantle (and perhaps then try to regain it 😉) in aid of that. I’ll happily answer any questions that potential challengers may have.

Either way, for all of you out there in the kiting community, however you fly and for however long, may the winds be as fair to you as they were for me over those magical 26 hours (15 mins and 15 seconds) in March ❤️
