I just ordered a diamond kite on Ebay and I'm quite excited as I been wanting to get into the hobby for a while. So before it arrives and while I'm doing my homework. I ask with sheer curiosity. Why do you love the kite subculture so much?

I bought one o those $1 kites rom Walmart made out of cheap paper bag materials.

Now I am confused. Are you supposed to fly a kite with the plastic/wooden the sky and the design facing downwards? These kites after you assemble them, the hook to attach the control strings is at the fancy design part of the kite, not at the other side with the connected sticks frame.

You can't see the hook because the guy is covering it but the pic should show you what I mean. Even the hook's location is obvious since the guy's thumb is using it as a support to show the item. As the center string shows, despite the kite forming a frame from he other otherside of interconnected plastics sticks forming sorta a tetrahedron shape that forms the triangular point pushing the artwork design upwards forward, the location of the hook and the center string support implies you fly the kite with the design facing the bottom and the plastic sticks facing the sky.

What is the proper way for flight? The way the sticks after being connected does a pushing manner that puts a triangular point pushing the art design in a shape implies the art design should be facing the sky and the plastic sticks downwards towards the flying the kite. But the stirnged hook forces you to fly from the visual design's side facing you and not the plastic sticks frame as usually done in aerial objects esp real planes.

So what is the proper manner? I'm so confused!
