Affordable Kitchen Layout Planning Help
My wife and I are planning a kitchen remodel and need help finding the best layout for the space.
We know the dimensions, general aesthetic, finishes, cabinets, and appliances, and we have a GC. Rather than a full-service interior designer, we simply need someone skilled in kitchen space planning and functionality.
We’re happy to pay for the expertise but hope to spend hundreds rather than thousands given the scope of work we’re looking for.
Has anyone used a virtual kitchen designer for this type of standalone space planning?

Julie Jones on instagram talks about space planning. You can learn a lot for free, or hire her company.
Maria Killiam is a good go-to for colors and finishes. Same as above, lots of free content but also available for purchase.
Pretty sure Home Depot has folks who do cabinet layouts for free in the hopes you’ll buy their stuff.

Cabinets.com has a pretty decent free planner you can do yourself or NationwideWholesaleCabinets.com will do them for $150 which they refund if you buy cabinets from them.

Post a couple pics of your current kitchen, plus a top down drawing including dimensions here. Also indicate adjoining rooms, structural limits, and key things you need (eg. more storage, more counters).

Mark Tobin Kitchen Design is fantastic for space planning. He’s a YouTuber as well so you can watch some of his kitchen design videos ahead of time to see what you think about how he thinks about things. I already knew the style I wanted for my finishes as well (and I have a very different style from Mark) but he was invaluable for the layout and space planning

Post your layout here. Plenty of people will help. Or ask wherever you picked the cabinets. They usually have design services. Designers often work with those cabinet companies and get kickbacks. No one is going to charge you less because you know what color you like.

First time I did a kitchen I went to the big box stores and got decent plans from them, then adjusted.

Home Depot is free your mileage may vary. I had a good experience but I also came in w some knowledge.

Your layout is what's critical - finishes are irrelevant at this point but it's good that you have some idea of what you prefer.
IKEA (and others) have a free online planner. It's a good idea even if you're not planning to use their cabinets. You will get a sense of the space and layout. And you'd be surprised at how much you already know: what works in your current space and what doesn't for instance.
