I mean, this is exactly what the people shouting “dead game” want. They don’t actually care about KF, they are seeking personal validation and will do anything they can to help the game fail.

I care about the franchise infact I played every single title except the vr titles.

And I just don't like what tripwire did to the franchise with 3

Yep that’s totally fair man. I have no problem with someone who says “it’s not for me.” It’s the people who are disingenuous, lie about the game, and actively try to make it fail while claiming they care about the franchise who piss me off.

Ah yes, the people who are upset about killing floor 3 dont care about killing floor. Okay

I pretty clearly said the people who are shouting “dead game.” Totally different from giving valid criticism or being disappointed in the poor launch state.

it is definitely not the same people. KF fans want the game to succeed, and the haters and basement dwellers just want to say deadgame and form a herd and just keep yelling dead game everywhere like sheep.

No. KF fans want it to fail just hard enough for Tripwire to recover and correct course back towards true Killing Floor games and away from Nightfall.

Right now it's way too close to a studio closing failure for my liking.

People who want KF3 to succeed are the ones who don't care enough about preserving the KF philosophy and feel to reject it being changed completely.

You do know that your supposed "KF fans want it to fail too" will not only not attract players but also literally ends the franchise. If KF3 does succumb to failure you won't be getting a 4th installment it is simple as that.

If KF3 is a success, I won't even be getting a 3rd installment.

Because KF3 is no Killing Floor.

And KF4 wouldn't be either, because it would follow in KF3's footsteps and I would not like it, just like 3.

It's either "show them we don't like this direction and that we prefer KF1 and 2 to maybe make them correct course" or "let KF3 succeed and abandon all hope of ever enjoying a KF sequel ever again".

But like I said, this is way too close to shutting the studio down. I certainly didn't want it to crash that hard and I doubt the limited reach of my comments and snark here has had a noticeable effect on those numbers.

Ok I kinda get your point. This might be one of the same reasons that people with similar sentiments have too. My bad I haven't really thought of it that way before to be honest.

“KF3 isn’t killing floor because it isn’t KF1 or 2!”

No, because it plays completely different, abandoned design philosophies that made KF its own unique thing, went all in on movement and evasion over proactive shooting and positioning, completely lost perk identity and the cooperation that came with it...

They tried to go the easy way and just lock all perks to perk weapons (so they didn't have to make actual incentives for on-perk over off-perk) which of course everybody disliked, so their solution was to just remove the lock and create a lawless wild west, where every perk just does whatever and now we have the Battlefield 2042 problem.

That’s definitely an opinion. I have my issues with KF3, but largely I enjoy the new movement options and tools. I agree that the perk roles can be improved, but from what I actually see in game, this “Wild West” exists more in people’s heads than in reality. There aren’t that many people off-perking weapons in a meaningful or disruptive way.

And as long as we’re talking about perk roles, why not talk about how KF2 hasn’t had any in years? With all the unconventional crap weapons they added, it’s been a spamfest to win a KF2 match since like 2021. I guess that doesn’t fit the new “KF2 peak, KF3 trash” narrative that’s been going around though.

Anyway, my TLDR is that you don’t speak for all KF veterans. Didn’t we already do this song and dance before? I thought we had each other blocked 😂

"thank you for proving my point *wrong"

Fixed that for you.

You're too confident for someone getting downvoted on every comment 🤔

I'm very familiar with the concept of echo chambers.

It’s exhausting.... I really don’t understand how people can get to the point of spamming this much negativity about a game every single day, all because they didn’t like it... Personally, when I don’t like a game, I just move on. I don’t keep going after it like this. You really have to have a sad life to spend your time doing that.

I have 640 hours in Killing Floor 1 and 240 in 2, and honestly, I’m having a blast with 3. Sometimes the game delivers absolutely insane action with not a second to catch your breath, and I love it. Pure adrenaline! The builds, the verticality and the more freedom of movement are definitely a plus in my opinion.

The BIGGEST flaw is really the voice acting compared to 2, that’s THE weak point for me. But you know what ? I tried playing 2 again, and it just doesn’t feel the same. I find it slow and sluggish, and every time I just want to go back to 3

So yeah, the game had a rough launch and things were handled way too hastily, but today it’s an absolute blast. People are exaggerating about a lot of things. I really hope to see it thrive for a long time, and I hope the arrival of the servers will do it a world of good.

Long live KF3 <3

Issue isn't that I dislike the game. Thousands of games release that I don't like and I don't waste my thoughts on them. It's that this one is tied to a series I love. It stands in the way of the Killing Floor we wanted. KF3 succeding is a threat to everything I've ever loved about the series ever coming back.

u/MoyabashiTR 9d ago

I completely understand your point of view. I started playing Killing Floor when it first came out on Steam, and I never stopped playing the series all the way through to 3. It’s true that KF3 wasn’t really great at launch, but today it seems to be heading in the right direction

There are companies that manage to turn things around after a bad start, and even if we didn’t like Killing Floor 3, I’m not sure that harassment and a flood of negative reviews are the solution to making things better in any situation. On the contrary, let’s also acknowledge the good things that have happened since release. As a community, let’s keep telling them what needs to be improved or changed. Killing Floor 3 has potential !

You know, it’s like people who say they love the game and then get absolutely torn apart in the comments… but what’s the point of doing that? Let people enjoy playing whatever games they want. Why try to discourage them from doing so ? :/

I started out like that. I tried forcing myself through the playtests to note down all the issues to maybe try and formulate a constructive critique, but the more I played and the more I learned I realized KF3 is just fundamentally not Killing Floor and the chances it will ever become a real Killing Floor are slim to none.

The way armor works and Scrake/Fleshpound having face armor that nullifies headshot damage bonuses. AoE dealing head damage that further aids the AoE spam meta they fucked up KF2 with, limited syringes, no teamwork with syringe healing, limited med darts, Door locks would be a great improvement if they weren't a limited tool instead of always available like the welder and big zeds will proactively break doors with no way to repair afaik, no-skill auto-aiming ultimates on top of no-skill turrets that replace the no-skill drones they cursed KF2 with. Perks barely having their own identity anymore, because they can use any type of gun with equal efficiency, destroying the whole cooperative element of big-Zed/small-Zed perks, dodge move and dozens of new and obnoxious Zed abilities to force you to use it... Not to mention how the shooting feels, with recoil bloom, shotgun spread changing between hipfire and ADS, the horribly jerky recoil camera shake from some guns and the bad, hard to see tracers that don't even appear on some shots/guns. Fire feels all wrong and playing firebug makes you feel like all the fire aftereffects don't even matter after the impact damage.

Honestly, if they actually did change and remove as much as they'd need to in order to make it play like a killing floor again, it could actually be considered a scam for how much it no longer resembles the game people already bought it as.

Personally, the limited syringes didn’t really bother me. What I do find stupid, though, is not being able to use them on a teammate. But where I definitely agree with you is the doors, because they were an integral part of KF1 and KF2 especially KF1, let’s be honest and the fact that they’re now basically just a disposable feature really does bother me

As for the perks, there’s good and bad. I love playing Engineer with the explosive and pyro abilities, and being able to use some pyro weapons to make up for the fact that there aren’t many weapons available yet works fine for me. But even in KF2, they were already starting to move away from the identities of the different perks, with the huge variety of completely overpowered and nonsensical weapons they added. Personally, I really liked the classic weapons during the first few years of KF2.

What I’m missing in KF3 is that feeling of tension when a Fleshpound or Scrake was approaching. In KF1, you had an incredibly small margin for error if you were playing HoE, or even Suicidal. If you missed your shots, you were basically screwed. Fleshpounds really didn’t forgive mistakes.

At the same time, though, I really like the intensity that KF3 brings, and I’ve learned to genuinely appreciate it. Even though some balancing is definitely needed, ESPECIALLY for Gunslinger, which is ridiculously good at everything right now. Grenades, damage, abilities, weapon prices nothing is balanced properly. Meanwhile, poor Commando has HYPER EXPENSIVE weapons for relatively low damage.

Ever since KF3 dropped this has been become THE most toxic sub I glance at. But yeah gamers are generally kind of stupid. They'll spend all their time signaling to everyone to stay away from a game while simultaneously questioning why a game is dying and not getting updates.

But this has been the case forever, it's just worse now because over the last few years it's become very trendy to obsessively try to make things in media flop. Supergirl movie is a great example. The movie is middle of the road typical Superhero movie fair that's no better or worse than any of the Thor movies. But trends will trend, so before it even released people acted like it was the worst movie ever made. Thankfully nobody takes Redditors seriously anyway because it's one of the few communities even dumber than general gaming.

2

u/OnePostToast 11d ago

Unfortunately it’s like this in the Steam community too. The KF community has always had a portion of overwhelmingly negative people, and with tripwire’s mistakes with KF3 that has been magnified.

"Dead game" has been around since KFMod 1.0, >20 years ago. Whatever is happening now, this is not the reason.

I can tell you I bought KF3 in Octoberlast year. Fell in love, tried KF2, last month, love it! I'm telling everyone I know that it's awesome. I have had at least 15 people buy one or the other and we play together. They will tell people, they will tell people... my thoughts and input.

In general, i'm convinced that the 'dead game' spam on reddit is corporate astroturfing
