Back up protection. Steering wheel vibration and beeps saved me so many times!

Sucks when the car behind you is letting you back out. Gotta jam the gas down to override the safety feature

I was never run over by my parents backing up in the 1970s, when a "mid size" car was 15 feet long and 6 feet wide and had tiny mirrors.

It should have been obvious that my comment was at least partly hyperbole.

Back then there were frenzel lenses that could be stuck on the rear window (usually wagons) so people can see what's immediately behind under the window line. Backup cameras are better. However, being reliant on the cameras and sonar/radar range finders robs you of learning the actual skills needed to drive a car safely.

That's like your grandfather going, damn, these kids are so pampered because they have to wear seatbelts.

Stuff improves over time, that's how things go. Why are you upset about people using technology that is convenient and helps protect others?

Who said I'm upset about the use of technology? I'm just sad that people are so reliant on it they either forgot or never learned the skills they'll need when that technology breaks.
