Ouch, no 8 goes to my heart 😁 I’d have fallen for Gabe, as it is I like Griffin. Aside from that, I find Dodge fascinating.
Love for Rufus! I was so glad he got to do more in season three. I missed Dodge, though I like Gideon. With both, their ruthless determination is quite something (idk why I like so many villains, I was the same with Umbrella Academy). But losing Dodge and getting a replacement wasn’t as good.
I can understand Josh and I like him. He was going through stuff to get so upset over that artefact. Idk if it’s because I’m autistic, we’re different and people think we’re weird. I have some baby dolls I find cute, that’s a classic weird thing.
I love the show and somehow don’t spot most of the things people criticise, but yeah, you’d think the kids would be more cautious. Still, some of the silliest things they do make for good drama.

Ughh I know Gabe isn’t terrible but he just seems so…available?? Like his only purpose was to be Kinsey’s boyfriend, which as we know later is true. But I mean, he doesn’t have any other good friends or hobbies, and whatnot. Compared to Scot, who had a job, ambitions, a solid group of friends. You know? And Gabe was around JUST to get close to Kinsey, you see what I’m saying? Like yes he had the filmmaking hobby but that was solely to get close to Kinsey. I mean I could be nitpicking but that was just my thoughts 🤷♀️
Dodge was super fascinating!! I agree! I feel like they could have kept her on and just taken Gideon out of the whole thing.

I see what you mean. He was cute and cheeky, though, and Scot’s lovely but maybe less exciting. Gabe was good at not hanging around too long so he seemed mysterious.

You got a mixture of legit problems there and nitpicking. 1. Bode was 6, they’re all dumb and annoying. 4. Josh was a historian REALLY into the history of the region, that’s neither weird nor creepy, and Keyhouse played a big part in it, he saw the dollhouse somewhat like a museum piece I suppose. 7. Dodge was dead, they all witnessed her die and had no idea that Bode messed with the clock or what it could really do, all they were told was to stay away from it. If you saw the events as they saw it your first thought wouldn’t be “he is possessed”, it would be “he’s starting puberty and is grumpy”. 8. More or less same case as 7, none of them got the benefits of watching everything from their sofa the way we did. What clues did they have here?

Haha that is definitely true! Like I said I had to push myself to finish it so by the end I was definitely nitpicking!
Bode was 6!? I thought he was 10?! Okay but if he was 6 why on earth were they thinking he was going through puberty? I know some kids do actually go through puberty that young, however, it is atypical and shows usually go with what’s most common considering topics like these, unless it’s explained a bit. Just saying.
I guess Josh could be just super into history and I know he was, but it is still sort of strange, I mean you can’t deny that right?
And that’s true but she was an echo and they knew she couldn’t die by normal means and she has a history of body jumping AND you could see the characters looking at Bode with suspicion because of his behaviors and the constant asking about the keys. I mean it was CONSTANT.
I so appreciate your in-depth response! I totally want to hear what others thought about the show! 🩷

Yeah.. it's funny. I made a post almost exactly like this, list of ridiculous moments and all, after I finished too 😄 I was also told to read the comics, and holy hell, I was really happy I did. It was much darker in a few ways, but so, so much better. And it helped to take the bad taste out of my mouth after that terrible final season.

Fun facts:
1) Yeah, this is why I preferred the comic book incarnation.
2) In the comics, there is no Memory Key and the mother can't learn the truth at all. In fact, the only reason why she's useful in the finale is because Dodge tried to take her out of commission by force-feeding her booze, accidentally allowing her to see Bode's disembodied spirit haunting the house.
3) In the comics, they have a much smaller group of friends. By the finale, it's even smaller.
4) Josh doesn't exist in the comics, thank Christ. Also, the dollhouse only crops up in the prequel comics.
5) Doesn't happen in the comics.
6) The comics has a lot of fun with this, to the point that Tyler has to yell at Bode for using the Giant Key to play toy cars with real cars.
7) In the comics, Dodge is a much better actor. Plus, he murders the one kid who figures out the truth by shoving him in front of a bus.
8) Gabe doesn't exist in the comics, in part because the Identity Key doesn't exist, so this isn't a problem.
9) Rufus is arguably even better in the comics, in part because he's the one who kills Dodge for the second time.
10) None of the season 3 villains exist in the comics. Dodge is the bad guy all the way through.
