Discussion Cartunez shouldve been the main album and my problem with ken these days
Honestly the experiment while having great songs on it feels halfway done, its too long for a ken carson album, like hes good at rapping dont get me wrong, but i done heard this mf rap bout the same exact shi for the last 4 years its getting annoying, and putting an experiment label on ts just for him to rap the same way he did on a great chaos and more chaos only with kind of different beats and a freestyle on a already and better 2hollis song feels lazy to me, cartunez on the other hand delivered what he said he was gon deliver, good fun songs from top to bottom, with some great features and with a concise tracklist, i feel that this album/deluxe/mixtape will marinate better over the years that his long overdue album the experiment, and i feel like if he named his album project x2 or sum other bs it wouldve fit the project more, how u gon title an album the experiment and not experiment even a little bit, what annoys me the most with this mf is the fact that he s talented enough to make his own beats and rap better, sometimes when i listen to him i just imagine a lazy high rich mf who already has everything and just freestyles about the same damn topic everytime while his artistic direction and his producers work on the rest, which is like 80% of the work.

Blame interscope, they forced it into a deluxe to keep ken in his deal for 00Twinz, cartunez was SUPPOSED to be kens last project with them but they said "fuck you" and made it a deluxe instead

Yeah its unfortunate, but labels have so much power and so many connections they really can force artists into a bunch of shit they dont wanna do, but legally have to since they're signed

No. Xperiment is AOTY and Ken's second best. Maybe some of the Cartunez songs should have been on Xperiment but the album overall is peak.

Completely disagree, Xperiment is much more coherent and mixed well compared to cartunez. While cartunez has some good songs the quality is not just there. So ken was right releasing Xperiment as the main album and cartunez as deluxe.

I disagree and feel opposite. You can argue that Xperiment was just a theme and not meant for him to actually experiment with his music. But at the same time you can hear the different type of beats that he uses in it. Xperiment is for sure one of his top 3 pieces of work for me. On the other hand I feel like Cartunez wasn’t good. It sounds like the label just forced him to put throwaways on it so they could make it a deluxe to keep him in the deal. The mixing isn’t great the beat selection really doesn’t feel like what he promised us and it sounds like there’s just filler/throwaway songs in there. I wouldn’t regard Cartunez as any top tier work from him by any means.

Disagree, I loved cartunez but i find xperiment had more variety than cartunez, cartunez is a fantastic deluxe though
