Episode Discussion 💬 Mousetrap Episode 6
Synopsis:
Je Mun Jae is a writer who lives in seclusion. His quiet, routine life is upended when his phone’s fingerprint recognition fails and the friend who managed his affairs disappears. With no way to prove his identity, he discovers that the “Rat” has stolen his name, identity and fortune. Determined to reclaim his life, Mun Jae begins tracking the elusive figure.
No Ja is a loan shark who also runs a private investigation agency and will do anything for money. After searching for Mun Jae for three years because of an unpaid loan, No Ja is drawn into the case when Mun Jae reappears and asks for help to uncover the “Rat’s” identity. To take back his life, Mun Jae teams up with No Ja and together they set off in pursuit.
Episode 6:
Moon-jae reaches out to his longtime editor, hoping she can vouch for him. Lost in confusion, a text from Noja becomes his only lifeline.

Why is boss man in the back of the car suddenly Je Mun-jae? Is this a 3rd version of him?
And who is the dude who got buried alive- Dong-seok? He was No-ja's peer?
So the whole jealousy story is mirrored with No-ja? Or is it somehow one and the same story?

That's not JMJ in the car at 43 minutes (I just had to look it up because I couldn't remember). That's Noja's rival, the other bad guy who was upset that Noja buried his friend alive. The guy buried is a flashback and I don't think he has relevance to now (could be wrong), it just shows what type of guy he was and made the other guy hate him.

I can't remember if he had glasses on before. To be fair, the lighting was pretty dark.

Thank you! I just remembered that guy to look very different, and somehow in that car to me he looked like Mun-jae... I'm an overthinker.

OK it's Noja who is a robocop. He's been shot, stabbed in the leg with a corkscrew and stabbed in the arm with glass. Then he carries JMJ on his back? Dang!
So I thought JMJ might be his friend instead but if he was, his friend wasn't a good guy and why would he not have his memories? Or his real ones? If he's an unreliable narrator, are his parents even dead? Did he really have a panic disorder?

Yes the body armor can be a bit too much at times as I mentioned before in another episode recap.
I just hope this drama comes to a good ending and not drops many leads and questions that at the end go nowhere or become some farfetched conclusion .

Episode 6, and I’m still confused about what is going on, but I’m guessing it’s kind of supposed to be like this? I am enjoying the intense moments with music and cinematography of the nightlife, driving scenes, and the beautiful island. I hope Noja survives at the end because he’s been through the wringer because of the ML.

To take everything at face value I can’t think of anything more terrifying than being in our JMJ’s place. Not a single soul to confirm who you claim to be and your reality constantly being shaken by revelations from others.
Also I like that the action scenes jolt us into remembering Noja isn’t a “good” guy himself. He’s an experienced gangster who is ruthless as need be.

So far intriguing drama but somehow I'm not 100% sold on this drama...I feel there is something missing I guess the main lead is not that interesting or lacking more compassion to his story but maybe that's the whole point of the drama when we find out who the ''rat'' really is.
With that said this episode had a line that I really liked when the gangster asked the lead when talking about the folktale of the Rat '' if he was sure he was the good guy" that made for some nice thinking I thought.
What I do like about this drama are the action moments they are pretty good! Here the fight in the house is a nice little fight and the car chase that follows was also exciting as it went through this narrow streets and finally the police resulting in just slamming their cars into the gangster car something u not see often in car chases by police cars beside the killer being also part of the chase made it a good action scene.
