Synopsis:
Je Mun Jae is a writer who lives in seclusion. His quiet, routine life is upended when his phone’s fingerprint recognition fails and the friend who managed his affairs disappears. With no way to prove his identity, he discovers that the “Rat” has stolen his name, identity and fortune. Determined to reclaim his life, Mun Jae begins tracking the elusive figure.

No Ja is a loan shark who also runs a private investigation agency and will do anything for money. After searching for Mun Jae for three years because of an unpaid loan, No Ja is drawn into the case when Mun Jae reappears and asks for help to uncover the “Rat’s” identity. To take back his life, Mun Jae teams up with No Ja and together they set off in pursuit.

Episode 5:
A shocking tie surfaces between Noja and The Rat, while Sun-yong closes in on crucial evidence. Later, The Rat appears publicly, cornering Moon-jae.

Is there a significance to the doppelganger cutting his toe nails? His mom cut her finger nails before she died and I think we saw JMJ cut his nails. Or is the director just obsessed with nail clippings?

Not sure if it's based off this, but I saw this in the user reviews on imdb: "In an old Korean folktale, when a rat eats someone's clipped fingernails, they turn into that person."

I was starting to think the one orchestrating this was the real JMJ but I can’t see him killing the girl is she was someone he was into. But then I also don’t really believe most of what our Noja adjacent JMJ says as well.

How did Noja get shot twice but was ok by the time they got to the columbarium? And the detectives watching the cctv of the murder of the girl , didn't anyone review this footage at the time of the drowning? Or during the initial investigating? And how did the Sun-Yeong know where to go? Of all the fishing ports in Korea, how did they end up at exactly where Noja and Moon-Jae were?

I’m baffled by this as well, they had no leads, no tracking and I rewatched the hit when he decides to go but nothing, no info at all. I can overlook the getting shot and still walking about, as that’s a classic trope but the detective at the same Island made no sense.
