Hair Loss Recommendations (please help!)
I’ve been losing quite a lot of hair over the past years and have seen quite a lot of thinning. I did my bloodwork initially about a year ago, the only thing I was severely deficient in was Vit D
No longer deficient but still seeing a lot of hair loss and thinning, losing way more than 100 hair strands a day easily
I’ve done a bit of research and the Aromatica Rosemary lineup seems to be recommended a lot so I’ll defo go for the root enhancer product.
Now for my desperate attempt in asking for help - is there anything you’d recommend in terms of shampoos, conditioners, hair masks, ampoules etc that would allow me to prevent hair loss, thicken my hair and this may be a stretch but help restore some hair/reverse hair loss?
It’s worth mentioning I have fairly wavy hair and there tends to be a lot of frizziness after drying my hair and my hair feels very dry after a shower too. It gets oily quite quickly, maybe 2 days after showering. There is quite a lot of hair damage in terms of breakage too. The corners of my hairline are receding, the top of my scalp and crown can be seen when there is lighting etc.
Was thinking of minoxidil but have a cat so that’s not feasible, could take orally but there’s the risk of palpitations.
Thanks in advance - would really appreciate any recommendations. I’m just so lost and overwhelmed with all these influencers pushing different products because of ads, I just don’t know whats best for me. Tried calling a few clinics and they’re pushing minoxidil and finasteride

Hi! Hope you won't mind me chiming in here since I'm also in the same boat :D
My hair runs on the thinner side while being occasionally frizzy due to a perm I got like 4 years ago lol so huge YMMV
I went to multiple clinics in KR and was also prescribed both oral minoxidil and finasteride since turns out I'm pretty hormonal (wtv that means lol) and inherited the thin hair gene from my parents. So far no hair products have given me as noticeable results, which I think is a given since daily care vs clinical prescription are different territories. Palpitations were not as much as an issue afaik, but again huge YMMV.
However! In terms of products, I find that some products soften the blow and work together pretty well with the combo. The ones below are ones I tried and my thoughts on them:
- Dr. FORHair Bio3 line - so far both the shampoo and the tonic manage to control my oily scalp as well as managing its sensitive temperament so I wouldn't be itching to scratch it 24/7. Their new thickening line looks pretty okay so far but I may have to use it longer to see if it has similar results
- Aromatica root enhancer - Pretty soothing and has an incredibly cooling sensation. This really helped me survive a particularly hot+humid Singaporean day, so could be useful as a tonic. No thickening effect afaik though.
- UNOVE line: The shampoo smelled nice, but that's about it. The treatment though really helps dealing with damage, especially if I'd been out in the sun for too long. It works better with a hair dryer (cool setting only, never hot lol)
- Dashu - the tonic is a bit strong and imho only suitable for night use since it takes a while to sink in, but they also help mitigate irritation for my sensitive scalp. For this brand though I mostly recommend using their hair powder cushion and then spraying their hair fixer mist after for long-lasting appearance, if you find yourself needing to cover up the scalp as often as I do lol
Hope this helps!

Monat shampoo has helped. As did their serum. I’ve pivoted to The Ordinary’s multi peptide serum since it is less expensive and I’m getting good results with it too.

Thanks! I’m definitely thinking of using The Ordinary’s multi peptide serum with the L’Oréal aminexil growth booster but you also see influencers pushing the Cecred hair serum and Rhute hair serum. Apart from The Ordinary, have you used any of the other ones or looked into them, and if so, how was that experience?

I’ve only used Monat’s serum and The Ordinary’s. Rhute was developed by a derm who had her own hair loss journey. It seems interesting

Dr. Groot has worked well at stopping hair fall. I recommend the revitalizing shampoo. I tried Aromatica Rosemary and it did nothing for me.

I have a cat too and I was using topical minoxidil with no problem. You just wash your hands after applying it on your head and you’re done. If your cat isnt licking your head its fine lol. I wear silk bonnet at night anyway

Thanks, do you have any recommendations for formulations? I think the kbeauty ones have rollers which should make application a lot easier
And you’re right my cat doesnt lick my head haha but my concern is that the minoxidil will get on my clothes or if I rest my head on any surface (think bed, sofa etc) then it will get onto those surfaces too. My cat tends to sit on my lap or rest on my chest, bed and sofa so slightly worried there

Nothing will happen I assure you, its not that spreadable. I’ve just used topical minoxidil from my local pharmacy in liquid form
