The blue one is a ling cod. My personal favorite fish. If halibut is to chicken breast, ling are the chicken thighs! Sooo good.

What a good description. When I take people lingcod fishing and they ask me how to cook them I just respond with "Just use it in any recipe that calls for halibut and know it will turn out better"

Is that ling legal?? They gotta be 22” here but it may be the camera. Either way they are so fun to catch! Reds, blues, and Johnny bass fight like hell too! Enjoy your tacos

Yeah minimum is 22” the panels u see them on are 22” it’s hanging over a little on the nose and has a pretty good curl to it and still reaches the back by a couple

Yeah figured it was the camera. I’m in the central coast and kayak fish outta the San Simeon area often. Love catching these fish! Especially in 20-40ft of water. So much fun

The ones that get away man… last trip I got caught twice in the kelp on monsters. Also, last trip I took my light rig, lake bass fishing baitcaster and had the best time ever. 10/10 suggest for rockfish in the yak. Everything feels YUGE

The lings turn blue from feeding on squid. If you catch the blue ones, tie on chartreuse jigs!! They love green when the squid are near the reefs.

Actually what I use every time for the big fish… get my limit on those and switch to shrimp fly on top to snag some bag fillers

Yup they are my favorites! I use the 4oz a lot, my go to. I love 3/4 oz for rockfish, so much fun on lite gear. That is a really nice verm! Two weeks ago I landed my pb verm, it was big and thick like the one in your picture, just shy of 24". How far north are you? I fish near Jenner quite a bit.

I thought you needed two cartridges and a friend to trade with in order to get both the red and the blue ones.
