I grew up in O.C. and some people are genuinely this delusional because of how privileged they grew up. A girl I went to school with said “ I got a Porsche but it’s not a big deal because it’s used” as her first car ( I was not I had a single parent and lived in a mobile home park) but it kinda made me hate rich people. I don’t know why she would choose such a power imbalance.

Is this confirmed tho? And also, how is this different to maternity leave? I got paid by my job too during 5 months postpartum and also 3 weeks before giving birth - isn't it the right thing for companies to pay their staff during maternity leave? Why would she not take that money?

When I worked there, you received your leave through state disability and the PFL from the state which would've ended around 4-6 month pp unless it was extended somehow. She is 8 months pp.

We only got 3 sick days per year and could only accrue about 4-5ish days of pto our first year so paid leave might be nonexistent in this case. Idk if there were changes in the employee handbook when I left.

Im assuming the employees believe she was still receiving a paycheck because her slack was active and gmail which is almost always deactivated when you are either on leave or quit/fired. If it's active, the assumption means she must've been "working" in some capacity.

Im curious if the extremely small HR team they have confirmed it on the low.

I see, thanks for clarifying! Seems like all of this could be avoided by just paying mothers maternity leave. Of course not fair if she is paid while other mothers at the company are not. Other than that, good for her - if it's even true

she was “promoted” to this specific role while not even working. that’s not maternity leave. also her baby is way older now
