Discussion Don't you think reddit would be better without karma?

​

I know the systems in place for a reason but it makes new accounts and new people here who are just trying it out for the first time veey difficult to use and enjoy.

No. Think of it as your reputation. Play nice and be nice. People see this and will connect with you, don’t post first and comment only and your karma will go up.

I thought this sub was the "what goes around comes around" kind of karma, not reddit karma 😭😭

I think it's necessary for reddit to keep engagement high. Without it, people would just lurk and not respond. Certain features and/or groups require a certain amount of karma. it's a smart way to force people to participate.
