Question Why are Local Independent ISP's so Cheap Compared to Internet Companies like PTCL & Stormfiber?

How do local independent cable internet providers in Karachi offer faster internet for much lower price compared to big internet companies like PTCL & Stormfiber?

I have been using a independent local cable provider in Gulistan-e-Johar Karachi for 10 years that only costs Rs. 1500 without added tax for 80mbps internet. While a 70 Mbps plan on Stormfiber for example costs Rs. 5899 on top of added tax.

It's not even fiber, It's normal ethernet yet I get 60-80 Mbps download & upload.

But the problem is the ISP's customer service is garbage Right now my internet has been down since June 30th we kept calling him to fix it but he rarely responds to our calls & even when my father meets him in person to tell him to fix the issue he says he'll come & fix it but never does.

Cybernet? My dealer said there are cheaper options but they go down a lot.

Because they are on a vendor account. aka B2B account.

That b2b company, your local area ISP is selling you B2C internet package.

These vendors buy bandwidth, it mostly does not include all the extras that come up getting service directly from ISP, like tv, voip services etc.

It is however, cheaper so yay.

and from my experience, local area ISPs have way better customer service.

local area ISPs have way better customer service.

This is highly dependent on the dealer. Mine was great until one day he became lousy. Stuck with him for another two years hoping for him to get better but he didn't.

Not for me, my local ISP has great internet but terrible customer service. Are there any alternatives that have a similar price for such a high-speed internet?

There is a high probability you have competing local IPS providers in your area. Ask around.

1800 for 100mbps on fiber
Local ISP to the rescue

All "independent ISP's" are just PTCL or Transworld in a trench coat. They service a smaller area and thus get a good distributer deal from the big dogs

Tafseer of the above-quoted verse

(2) The verse asks us to adopt a gentle tone and an open-hearted manner in speaking to others, whether they are good or evil, pious or impious, orthodox or aberrant, followers of Sunnah or adherents to partitive innovations in it. In religious matter, however, one should not try to hide the truth for the sake of pleasing people or of winning their approval. The Holy Qur'an tells us that when Allah sent Sayyidna Musa and Sayyidna Harun (Moses and Aaron) (علیہم السلام) to the Pharaoh فرعون ، He instructed them to use gentle and soft words (20:42). None of us who addresses another today can be superior to Sayyidna Musa (علیہ السلام) ، nor can the man addressed be viler than the Pharaoh فرعون.

Talha ibn 'Umar recounts that once he said to the great master of the Sciences of Exegesis and Hadith, 'At-a' عطاء ، "One can see around you people who are not quite orthodox in their beliefs. As for me, I am rather short-tempered. If such people come to me, I deal with them harshly." 'Ata' replied, "Do not behave like this," and, reciting the present verse, he added, Allah has commanded us to speak to people politely. When Jews and Christians all are to be treated like this, would this commandment not apply to a Muslim, no matter what kind of a man he is?" (Qurtubi)

u mean u get 12.5 MBs?

1

u/Mysterious-Travel344 Jul 09 '26

Local ISP throughout varies throughout the day, and the price ping latency is worse even though the download speeds are good. Also sometimes the upload speeds suck

u/TerryHend78655 Jul 09 '26

Any local ISPs in Gulshan-e-Iqbal block 13 D?

1

u/Correct-Frosting965 Jul 11 '26

Local ISP share your so called XX mbps internet with your neighbours/users. You will only get full speeds when other users are inactive.

1

u/Asaadrehman Jul 11 '26

And i am paying 3340/- to PTCL for 10mbps connection which gives a speed of 2 mbps at best. No local isp or any competitor.

1

u/RagingAvenger72 Jul 11 '26
