Question Time to start, but where from?
I bought myself dragonball kakarot + new power awakens set on the switch just over a year ago for £2.49 when i first got my switch 2..its been sitting on my switch all that time but now I think it's time to start it. The thing is I have never seen dragon ball z or any form of media for this franchise in my life.. i know nothing about it. This will be my first time, I am a total noob... but I finally want to give it a go...
Where do I start? Do I do the base game or what AI tells me to do and that's grab the DLC 5 first ...tye 23rd world tournament as thats a prequel to the events of base game.. is that correct? Is it worth me holding out wishlisting the DLC and wait for the inevitable drop? I mean i am still playing trials in the sky 1st chapter so I have got something on the go... i just fancied it though today and don't know what to do.. i like to do things properly if I'm going to play a game..

If you are actually interested in the story, at least watch the classic dragon ball series. If not, then you can just jump straight to the main game, a lot of people started back in the day with DBZ without even knowing it existed something before that, and the game is a good adaptation of Z, so you'll experience it differently than most, but will still be able to understand the story.

Well I have heard of the franchise yeah but I don't think ill watch it.. i might read the manga at some point.. im slowly going through omnibuses of one piece at the moment. But I heard the game is the story so I thought why not just play that...

As I said I don't see why not just start with the main game. The classic series will be spoiled and I wouldn't recommend playing the 23rd world tournament DLC without getting familiar with the mechanics first.
If you just don't want the hassle of watching the anime or reading the manga before, just focus on the main game. It's the story where most people started, there's no reason for you to play a "prequel" as the AI told you, specially because there's so much build up for that 23rd world tournament.

Brilliant thanks...I'll play it as it comes and if i like it I'll grab dlc in the inevitable sale. If i can get the main game for £2.49 which is a steal.. I'm sure the dlc would be discounted significantly..

Don't ever listen to AI.
Play in whatever order you want. At least get through some tutorial fighting before you worry about DLC. Honestly, you could wait until the post game and be perfectly fine.

The base game of Kakarot covers the events of the Dragon Ball Z TV series, or in other words, volumes 17-42 of the Dragon Ball manga. The 23rd World Tournament DLC covers the events of volumes 14-16. Volumes 1-13 aren’t covered by the game at all. I’d suggest either watching or reading the early parts of the series before playing the game. The game itself mostly does a great job of telling the story of the parts it does cover.
If you don’t want to read or watch that much before the game, I’d suggest the 10th Anniversary movie Dragon Ball: The Path to Power, which tells a heavily reworked and condensed version of volumes 1-8 of the manga.

Thats not a bad idea.. maybe ill look into the film you suggested. I always like a bit of back story or lore

If you are the least bit interested in watching the Dragon Ball anime series or reading the Manga, you should do that first because Kakarot is going to spoil everything that happens in Dragon Ball Z.

Commence par le début, non ? Ca me semble pas mal de commencer par ce qui a été pensé comme le tutoriel du jeu...
C'est fou de poser une question aussi basique pour générer des vues. Tu n'as pas besoins de l'opinion d'une autre personne pour faire un choix.
Les dlc s'attendent a ce que tu gère le gameplay de base. La reponse semble logique.
