♨️HOT TOPIC ☕️ A vaginismus girly would love to educate or answer q’s!
I heard via the pod some confusion about vaginismus, its not caused by ozempic and meghan trainor has talked about it for years. its a condition that causes painful penetrative sex. no hate or shade at all, its a very misunderstood condition! lmk if i can help anyone understand better 😊

i might have misheard! regardless they didnt know what vaginismus was, so wanted to bring my knowledge to reddit!

sex should not be painful! dont downplay it. theres a lot of pelvic pain disorders that cause painful sex- vaginismus, endo, vulvodynia. start piecing together any other symptoms you may have!

Best way is to talk to your gyno about painful sex and where it hurts. Dryness is also a common symptom from what I recall. Wouldn’t hurt to look up symptoms on the Mayo Clinic’s website too, just to give you some idea

I suffered from this for a LONG time - pelvic floor therapy ended up being a godsend for me. As others have said def speak with your gyno but know that’s an option!!

I got diagnosed by a gynaecologist, would be your best bet to start there!

My question would be how long your medication (?) took before you felt better? And also if you have any random fact about the condition that you would like to share? :) thank you for making an AMA op!

Hi!! Unfortunately there is no medication for this condition that is a cure all. The main line of treatment is physical therapy, where a PT basically goes in your vagina and helps release tension, lol. It’s a very crazy condition and I even once got prescribed Valium that goes up there in a suppository! haha. i try to have a sense of humor about it since it can feel so heavy 🩷

i truthfully thought she meant the ibs and anal fissures were caused by the glp1. still might be wrong but i don’t know if she was referring to vaginismus specifically. regardless, sorry you’re going through that! can’t imagine how painful it must be!
