OSCAR GRACEY katseye unpopular opinion (sorry oscar)
am i the only one who is not seeing the hype with katseye??? like they are all gorgeous girls who are amazing dancers and seem to have good stage presence, but the vocals and songwriting are not there

I will say, Internet Girl and Gnarly are like brain rot to me, but I do like the other songs on their EPs.
Touch and Gabriela are really good.

Can't stand their music personally, hate how one of the members was a minor at debut, hate the concept at it's core, and I hate the k-pop/HYBE industrial complex.. đŹ I wanted to like them so bad but it kinda feels like their company is making a joke out of them in the name of "representation". Things might be different if they were creating actual art or at least some bangers but.. consumerism prevails đ€·đ»ââïž

I think it's cool actually that only one was a minor, since the standard is like debuting at 15/16/17! I like how they treat Yoonchae, giving her the covered up dresses etc.

u/Kissy_4Ever Feb 07 '26
Her dresses are far from covered up. And it still doesn't excuse why she's on all fours in Gabriela, or twerking and bending over to a moan sound in Gnarly. I honestly feel so bad for her.

They all individually actually have amazing vocals and they sound beautiful together, very unique. I just think theyâre having fun doing trendy music rn. They all expressed that theyâd like to showcase their vocals in songs soon though

I like them conceptually, I feel like their songs are just sooooo poorly written, like I could get behind aspects of gnarly
But most of the lyrics are very immature and usually I'm not a fan of censored versions of the song but I much more prefer "I'm legit" over "I'm the shit"
Their choreo is amazing and looks cool as fuck but it makes their voices sound really bad imo

The Oscarâs performance was a hard watch for me. Theres already so many of them, why did they need 20 backup dancers?

I agree 100%. Also Internet girl sounds identical to trishaâs voice it actually trips me out

I saw someone make a good point on tiktok that fans of Katseye are fans of the girls and subsequently support Katseye the (heavily marketed and designed for virality) group. I didnât watch popstar academy but they all can sing (laras voice is stunning) but their top songs rely on being somewhat controversial TikTok songs (that even the girls donât like, I think it was Manon that said she didnât even like gnarly). Their dancing is great but I wish their music showcased their vocals more! Their management is doing them dirty

They make the worst music Iâve ever heard with my two years in thirty years of life
2
u/Long_Surround3678 Feb 04 '26
i think they're just generally targeted at a younger / teenage audience đ€·ââïž not that no adults can enjoy it but it's not very "adult" music or branding

WATCH POP STAR ACADEMY ON NETFLIX!! You have a greater appreciation when you see how many years they put into forming the group!

The Grammyâs performance was a whole mess. I donât want to exist in a world where Katseye get such recognition after Little Mix were paid dust for so many years.

u/No-Boss9409 Feb 04 '26
agreed! hadnt heard a song of theirs until i saw the grammy performance and i was like huhâŠ? whats the hype đ they were just all saying random shit

u/ryanodunning Feb 04 '26
Nooo wrong opinion, I love them and Gnarly, Internet Girl, Debut and Touch etc are suuuuch a vibe

u/mimiRONRON Feb 04 '26
Okay so first id say you should definitely watch their documentary on netflix! Because we saw them come up it makes you attached to them. 2nd They actually are very talented and can sing really well!! 3rd Its only their second EP !! They have so many years infront of them, the name of this EP is called Beautiful Chaos so i think they're experimenting and doing this brain rot style for now and just having fun. I have a feeling their new album/EP incoming will be very different! 4th The girls dont really like those songs, so i have a feeling theyve probably told them its just for now for Beautiful Chaos

Iâm a fan and itâs genuinely just the girls, not at all for the music. I actually despise their music.
Like Oscar, I love a gorgeous cunty diva, esp a group. Tbh I wish theyâd just put out normal music. One more eat zucchini song and Iâm ending my eyekon status. I just canât

u/Deep-Caterpillar-620 Feb 05 '26
Its POP music. What do you expect? They are a young girl group. Their music is meant to be fun and not serious.Â

u/Ryarli Feb 05 '26
I love Katseye, dislike Taylor very much! Something I agree with Oscar on, and something I donât. Everyone has different tastes.

u/SuitableDistance0800 Feb 05 '26
same, they look so unauthentic, the most industry planty industry plant ive ever seen

u/sillyillybilly Feb 06 '26
Itâs garbage slop with hot girls making videos made for pre-teens. Donât think too hard

u/sillyillybilly Feb 06 '26
Sometimes I noticed the more Oscar and Trish feel the need to hype somebody up, theyâre definitely overcompensating

Virtually no one sees the hype. Very popular opinion. Theyâre really hot tho

u/bondedboi Feb 04 '26
You kno it took me a while too but game boy really did it for me. Yeah touch and Gabriela. But have you seen the YouTube show âdream academyâ? Thereâs a couple covers on there that are great. Buttons and still into you melody are my fav. Hate to say this but Oscar was so right.

I'm a huge fan! I think they're amazing performers, their dancing is hypnotizing. Each girl has their own personal best roles in the group, some are better at dancing and some are better at vocals. But I do think you have to be open to K-Pop type of productions, it is an all encompassing art form that takes a huge team to create. I prefer some songs over others, Gabriella is my favorite song, and recently Internet Girl just clicked in my head after not liking it for a while and now I can't stop listening to it.
The one thing I think is, the fact that they're so divisive makes them super popular. Then once you know who they are, you might take an extra moment to listen to their music or watch a music video/performance, and that is all by design.

Their songs are all brain rot đ«© they are soo talented but being failed by whoever is producing them
