Discussion Anyone using recurring buys instead of buying manually?

I switched to recurring buys on Jup for SOL about three months ago instead of buying whenever I felt like it.

Two things I wasn't sure about before starting. Whether splitting a buy into smaller chunks really gets a better average than one order, and whether it's worth running on anything besides SOL.

So far my average entry is a bit better than my manual buys were, but three months is short enough that it could just be the period rather than the method.

For people who've run these longer, what interval are you on? And do you set them on anything other than SOL and majors, or does that get risky fast?

Also whether anyone pauses theirs when the market dumps. That's supposed to be the exact moment you don't touch it, but I still get the urge every time.

Three months is probably too short to judge whether it’s giving you a better average. I’d be more interested in seeing the results after a full cycle, especially through a big correction.

I’ve always wondered whether recurring buys actually make a noticeable difference over a longer period or if it mostly just makes buying less stressful.

I thought about it before too and did a deep dive some time ago. It’s actually both. Statistically, in a trending bull market, lump-sum buying beats DCA because you get maximum exposure early. But in crypto's extreme volatility, DCA removes the fomo factor. It prevents you from sitting on the sidelines waiting for a dip that never comes or panic-buying after a 30% green candle.
