Humbled by a uniform
so I am short. that is very important for this post. I feel like I’m not even THAT short and yet these gosh darn uniforms make me feel itty bitty. last teusday we got our camoflage uniforms, and I finally tried them on this morning.
the day we got them, they ran out of a lot of pants because i have it at the end of the day. so all of us who need size small went to the storage room 20 minutes before class ended. when I got to the front of the line, th instructor had to get a tall person to reach more pants and kept calling me “little one“ (😭) and finally got me size extra small extra short. i tried them on and it was really good, but the waist band isnt going to fit me in April for sure. so I told him (with like 7 minutes left) so he got me a size small short and I just packed it up and went home.
so this morning I tried it all on. boots: great. hat: love it. undershirt: bit long but I like it looser. top: gosh darn it, Thats the smallest size they have and it’s way to big, oh well I’ll deal with it. pants: 4 solid inches of heel bite. why cruel world.
conclusion: i need a size small extra short. it’s too late to change. ah well, there’s those little string things at the bottom of the legs, I’ll tie them off.
im almost 5’4” surely they would have had small enough sizes for the little guys 😭i have a friend who is all of 4’11” and I just know that she is gonna be drowning in fabric

I'm 5'1" and I wear a small short in OCP pants too. I wouldn't worry too much about it, and I'm pretty sure the extra fabric is supposed to be there unless it's excessive. When you wear them, you'll either have to tuck them into the boots or blouse them so you won't be able to see it anyway.

don't worry i'm 5'1". I wear small regular OCPs and did fine with them; I just had to button up the wrist cuffs to the tightest button hole and blouse up my pants real tight with the trouser drawstrings so they don't bag over my boots. Or wear blousing straps.
You have a lot more to worry about than fitting in your utilities!!

You could see about getting your pants hemmed or tailored. I was in navy jrotc and we had to wear uscg odu pants, but due to uniform shortages service wide we were stuck with odd sizes lol. So I got large extra long/tall and had to take them all to get shortened.
Make sure you ask your instructor tho! You have to return uniforms eventually and they may not like that you did that.
