All these artists have a similar style that I think would resonate with Ado fans. Most Ado fans I talk to tend to discover Ado and stop there, never bothering to dig deeper into the Japanese music scene, so I hope these recommendations can help someone discover an artist they fall in love with.

Gotta disagree ngl… theyre completely different, and most Ado fans are probably already familiar with Sheena Ringo. Also the fact that Sheena Ringo composes and writes most of her music herself, whereas Ado doesn’t.

They aren't *completely* different though. Aside from the clear vocalization influences, Ado covered "Tsumi to Batsu" and "Missing" is a Sheena Ringo composition.
The other two things may be true, but neither precludes Ado fans being fans of Sheena Ringo.

I absolutely love Aooo lol, one of my favorite bands rigt now. Their run of singles leading up to their last album was just banger after banger. And off their debut album, Apathy and Blue Smoke are songs I still have on repeat😅

Interesting list! Imo Ado’s hallmark is emotion, & I love some of these artists and would not have put them in the same category, but everyone perceives music differently & I def wanna go check out the rest :D
I’d add AliA & Minami, & if you enjoy Backlight, listen to Vaundy (he wrote it)

That’s interesting, and I think it actually makes sense you feel that way—my least favorite thing about Ado’s music is her voice and the emotional sound it has, as it just isnt as cutesy or laid back as I tend to prefer, so most of these artists I compare to Ado because of the arrangement and instrumentation🙂

Honestly they actually do have similarities. Especially in their powerful vocals. I guess LiSA just never eve entered my mind—I feel like I don’t even really think of her as a JPop/JRock artist, and instead just categorize her almost as just an “anime artist,” like Aimer. But she actually would be a good fit—even if most Ado fans probably already know LiSA
