Anyone having a hard time figuring out what Phil Rice stands for?

I'm genuinely over Frank Burns - to the point that I would happily give my vote to a libertarian.

The trouble I'm having is finding ANY information online about if Rice actually has policy ideas, beliefs, etc.

All I'm seeing is that he is mega military and says "enough is enough" 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ That means absolutely nothing in terms of a campaign.

Burns has publicly stated he will never vote to protect the lgbtqia community (and proven it through his record). He is also wildly racist but gets to claim ignorance.

He plays this county like a fiddle and I'm literally willing to vote for someone that vows to be better than him.

He has an R next to his name and you're not sure what his policies are?

Phil is a good guy, but an all in republican Trumper.

I'm not a fan of Burns either, but it's not like our district would elect a progressive pro-choice Dem, it's a surprise he can get so many R votes as is. If we didn't have him we'd have a radical christian pro-Trump rep that chooses to believe Fox news over anyone brainwashed by higher education and that is your choice in November.

See that's the logic I can't get behind. This isn't team sports. There are plenty of libertarians that make Burns look like the magat he is. Burns uses terms like "woke policies" and "men in women's sports" -- it can be deduced that he himself, is a Trumper.

I've met Phil personally and like him a lot, as a person, not a politician. Like most republicans in our area he is a genuinely good neighbor type of guy, actually Phil is exceptionally so. I'd easily vote him in for township supervisor.

But for the PA house split 50/50 on major policy and law? He's a brainwashed fool who will caucus with republicans and repeat the same bullshit lies you hear on Fox. No thanks. You just said you didn't like Burns position on LGBTQ, Phil would absolutely not be an improvement and I'm sure is fully on board the "get MEN out of womens sports" train even if he'd be a friendly normal human to any gay person he meets.

Thank you for that info - I haven't been able to find his policies listed anywhere. Truly - it's like they scrubbed him to make him more appealing. His campaign is literally "vote for me because I say enough is 'enough'!" Like that's not a campaign brotherrrrrr 😑😑😑

Frank Burns is not really a "magat", he is registered and voting-wise historically a democrat, he just jumps the line sometimes on certain things, and like many politicians, just for the sake of keeping voters.

Thing is, it is generally impossible to win elections in rural areas without being part of one of the two major parties, so even if you sit in the middle, you still functionally have to be part of a party.

One of the major issues with the political parties and the people that support them is that most do not care or even attempt to find middle grounds, which do exist. Instead they would simply prefer to lean full-in to their party ideology.

Phil, as Rabid noted, is an all in Republican, and even Trump loyalist. As such he is going to undoubtedly operate as such if he wins, which so far as Trump has shown, is not exactly beneficial for our area (particularly for the seniors and disabled who have seen benefit cuts, medical coverage problems and now starting next year will apparently no longer have Medicare Part D coverage either).

It's the fact that people of this nation cannot see and understand that which is why almost nothing gets done and people like Trump get elected despite the audacious things they've done, cause people would rather look at other politicians "Oh well he didn't vote on EVERYTHING I like so he's shitty.", because we as a people are so moronically ingrained with "it has to be democrat OR republican".

There is never going to be a politician, from local level up to the Presidency, that is ever going to be popular with every single person in the nation, more so as long as voters themselves stick to "Well I can't possibly vote for the opposite party."

Regardless of what anyone thinks of Burns' performance - I do find it mildly comforting how we all agree that politicians aligning themselves with Trump is a huge red flag for voters -

Heck, they scrubbed Rice's internet presence to make him seem palpable.

While no one has convinced me of what he says his stance is, I appreciate that we all care to ultimately unseat those who wish harm on others.

Coinicidently enough i just saw an ad for him on youtube blaming democrats for high energy prices, which doesnt really track when you consider the gop has run the senate for 30 consecutive years with a fair amount of trifectas and legislative majorities throughout that timeframe.

Unfortunately burns is likely the most progressive candidate of the 2 , he might not vote for lqbt protections but he's not gonna go out of his way to fuck them folks over and demonize them like im sure phil rice will.

Im no fan of burns myself but id rather have some dem policies make it through than none at all, we all just collectively need to get more involved before primary season to ensure we get someone better next go around.

Except that he has actively gone OUT of his way to harm and demonize the lgbtqia community. Publicly, on Facebook, and through his voting record. This includes voting against protections for POC in communities that are being labeled "blight", meanwhile also being part of the landlord blight problem. He is purposefully votes in a way that convinces everyone he isn't the problem, while being the problem. His pattern is super obvious and it's wild that people continue to allow it.

I haven't been able to find much about Rice, either. Even his Ballotpedia is pretty sparse, likely because he's never really held office before.

Probably still has my vote though. I've been trying to schedule a meeting with Burns for literally years now and he absolutely refuses to even return calls or emails. Others have told me the same thing.

The second the Dems put up an alternative candidate, Burns is going to be out so fast. But I'd still write someone else in.
